Is that a HILUX SURF 4Runner with a fiberglass bed?
I believe these were sold overseas in Europe and the Asian Pacific.

Hmmmm--thought perhaps it was after seeing your plate
the surfs you are refering to are based off the 1-2 gen rigs. these have fiberglass top shells. the 3rd gen have never had rear shells.

Very nice, how much do those volk's weigh. Are they still lighter than method's
the volks weigh about 15lbs. with the beadlock conversion they are still about 18lbs.

You're here excited about a Bronco and I'm looking at your truck thinking "why don't I just import a Japanese Toyota for, easy, half the price?"

That was my plan before I got on the Bronco path. Still tempts me. I look at the Japanese auctions pretty much every day.

its easy to day that but things that you need to keep in mind when looking at these rigs. ive been around toyotas for almost 20 years.

1. these rigs are 20 plus years old. things are getting older and show age and wear got example my right has 300k + under its belt.

2. parts are starting to get discontinued as with any older vehicle. alot of reproduction parts are out there but the quality isnt as good as oem parts. you dont want to be stranded in a 20 year old rig away from civilization and have to wait days if not weeks for parts.

3. japanese imported vehicles and value dont go together in a sentence.

4. have you driven a imported Hilux surf Diesel? yes they have torque, but god they are slower than a turtle strapped to a bottle rocket.

5. when it rains it pours. things will start breaking in more frequently on an older rig yes you make maintain it well, but age waits for no one. i have a long laundry list of what i have repaied on this rig in the last 2 years and then some hell im replacing transmission shift and lock out solenoids on this rig this weekend.

I just bought a 2021 4runner. So we're good for a new and reliable vehicle.

I don't mind something to keep me humble and keep me busy. Ha.

A Toyota diesel is slow but not much less than my current truck and way faster than my old Hiace. That thing was a dog.

I respect your reasonings but I'm also a masochist. :ROFLMAO:
