My family and I packed up the 2 door Velocity Blue Black Diamond and made the 4-1/2 hour drive to North Carolina’s Outer Banks this weekend and I’d like to share the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good:
My wife and kids agreed the Bronco is surprisingly comfortable on the road compared to our previous Jeep’s. We’re used to traveling light, so no regrets on the two door at all.

This vehicle is a show stopper. Everywhere we go, people want to check it out and talk about it and the comments are 99% positive.

We ran into one other new Bronco on the beach, a 4 door Outer Banks. It was nice to stop and chat with that family and share the stories of what it’s like being unpaid ambassadors for the model out in the wild.

The Bad:
Nothing that hasn’t already been covered. My wife asked why the speakers sound so terrible and my kids complained about the lack of decent cup holders.

The Ugly:
While driving on the beach is awesome, having the AdvanceTrac system crap out both days was not. While chugging along effortlessly in sand mode the dashboard suddenly lit up with a “Service AdvanceTrac”, “Pre-Collision Assist Not Available”, “Hill Descent Control Fault”, and “Drive Mode Not Available”. It did still indicate I was in 4 high and I didn’t get stuck, but it doesn’t inspire confidence to have that happen when you’re fully committed and dependent on the 4 wheel drive system.

Overall, it was a great trip. We had a great time, met some great people with Broncos on order.
Despite the glitches, the Bronco did its job of getting us there and back. I’ll be visiting the dealer tomorrow to discuss the faults.

I hope you like all the pics:

Love it--except for your technical difficulties you had! Please let us know if/how things get resolved. Those wheels, tires, and the 2 door silhouette look great!--Matt

Did you upgrade tires? To what?
The OBX, were they on stock 255_18, or SASQUATCH?
I upgraded my tires to 285/70 BFG KO2s. The OBX was nonsquatch with stock tires.

Thanks, thats my OBX configuration. How are those KO2 on the highway to OBX (ie, Noise compared to street tires?)? Do you have the rear lockers, were they part of that error messaging? Lastly, did the shop recalibrate the computer eith forescan after the tire upgrade? The posting we saw from someone who did it indicated that not only do you have to change the TPMS and the tire size oh, but they'll also there's a setting in the auto four-wheel drive computer that has to be changed as well and I'm wondering if that's the error?

The highway ride quality was great. I’ve got an appointment Thursday to address the faults. I’ll have them recalibrate for the increased tire size too.

Hi there, Steve! I apologize for the inconvenience the AdvanceTrac system has caused. Go ahead and send us a private message with your full name and VIN, I’ll look into this for you. Thanks!

Its really a shame Ford didn't produce any pre-production Broncos to tool around in for 6 months prior to production
Seems like there’s been a couple people on here getting that advance track error code wonder if there will be a recall for faulty sensor hope they fix all the small issues before my 22

Hopefully it’s a minor glitch and easily corrected.
On a positive note, I had no issues with the system while driving in Uwharrie National Forest this weekend.

Another Bronco throwing alarms while in sand mode. I am curious as to the sand mode eliminating the need to pressure down of the tires, or are folks selecting sand and then creating these alarms by not pressuring down the tires. Anyone know what it states the the owners manual?

I aired down prior to switching into sand mode. The manual doesn’t say anything about a sequence that must be followed.

The Sunset pic... What are the 2 yellow lines in the sky? Did you put those there?
Hmmm, not sure what those are.
I would bet that they are optical artifacts, from internal reflections inside the camera's optics, of the headlights. Lens flare, it's called.

What kind of camera was used to take these pictures? My guess is, one with fairly simple optics, perhaps a cell phone camera. Something that, under such conditions, only produces one set of reflections. A more sophisticated lens would produce multiple sets of reflections.

This image was taken with a late 1960s or early 1970s vintage Vivitar 85-205mm zoom lens mounted on my Nikon D3200. In this case, the Sun was out of the frame, but shining on the lens and producing internal reflections off of the multiple optical surfaces in the lens.

Thanks for sharing this experience. I took my 4 door Badlands non sas to the Fort Fisher 4x4 Beach area in NC yesterday, and the exact same thing happened to me in Sand Mode. It happened on the way to our fishing spot and then again on the way out. I going to make an appointment to have mine checked out this week. What was the outcome when your dealership looked at it?
