Black roof - can you just wait for it?

So if I got a Badlands and didn't order the MIC...could one just wait and buy the Black painted roof later when it is available? A big fan of a hard roof, not a big fan of the grey.

I wonder, too, how much can we wait for, and maybe we'll know more at order? If you're on a late build anyway....should we be able to grab those late items on order? Or amend it later?

Word is it will be “late availability” for MY21, so you can order it initially with the understanding that anyone who opts for the MIC will jump ahead of you for delivery until the Modular tops become available.

Just because you can't put it on B&P doesn't mean it won't be an option for 2021. You can build it with a painted black hard top and it won't get produced until that option is available. Or you can order a softop and order the black hard top after as a service item

Yes. It will be available from dealers at some point. Who knows when though.

Unfortunately it will go to orders first. Dealer part will be 1 year after it is available for orders. Also the price will be inhibitive due to shipping. With the vehicle the shipping is already absorbed.

I’m planning on settling with the gray, taking it to an auto body shop, getting it sanded down then painted while I wait for the black painted from the factory. I just can’t do cyber orange with a gray top

As others have said.. you have 3 options since BL does not come standard with a Hard Top

1) Order the BL with the standard Soft top and don't worry about a hard top. Eventually Ford or Aftermarket will be able to sell you what you want. IT will be more $$ though (because your soft top is not being taken into account as a "credit")

2) Order the BL with the MIC (which means you will NOT get a soft top also). Then paint it, sell it later, or live with it.

3) Order the BL with the Painted and get it later down the road when whomever gets their head out of their arse.

Everyone here is so impatient. I say Just order what you want and accept the fact that you may have to wait for it. Would you rather spend the next 8 months jealous of that guy who got his first or the next 8 years mad that you didn't get what you wanted in the first place?

I’m going to look at my MIC top......then either keep it MIC or paint it black.

I wrap the top in what ever color vynl you want. Then boom, you have a shinny black top. I will be having mine wrapped in white

That might be hard to do. The MIC has a texture to it that might not hold the vinyl right. I'm sure someone who has seen them up close and personal could comment.
