I am not aware of any differences in the brakes between the 2.3 vs. 2.7 aside from the maintenance mode requirement for the 2.7s. PowerStop only has one version for the Bronco. I sure hope I don't find out after the tire is off!
Might be worth calling to check. I believe wilwood and alcon were both 2.3 only

Both have maintenance mode.

The 2.7 can be very picky about brake system changes because it uses an electronic brake booster setup unlike the 2.3 which has a regular old vacuum setup.

Like @SierraBronco mentioned, a lot of upgrade kits say they will only work for the 2.3 because of this.

You’ll need to make certain your kit works with your engine. Seems there are a lot out there for the 2.3L but the 2.7L is a little trickier
Yes now I remember. The kit pads didn’t work I think and I had to buy separate Z16 pads.

Sorry so dense but what’s procedure to “put in maintenance mode”?

I tried what I believe is similar or same that someone had an mpg adjustment process on and I didn’t get screen/mode accomplished. Would like like to do that one too.
Thx for any procedure / help!!

Specifically for brake maintenance mode -
Activating Brake Maintenance Mode:

1. Ignition On: Turn the ignition to the “ON” position without starting the engine.

2. Release Parking Brake: Ensure the parking brake is disengaged.

3. Press and Hold Pedals: Fully depress and hold the accelerator pedal. Simultaneously, press and hold the EPB switch in the “RELEASE” (down) position.

4. Cycle Ignition: While holding both the accelerator and EPB switch, turn the ignition “OFF.” Within 5 seconds, turn the ignition back to the “ON” position.

5. Confirm Maintenance Mode: Continue holding the accelerator and EPB switch until the instrument cluster displays a message indicating that the vehicle is in Maintenance Mode.

Watched a video online for Bronco brake job and it stated Ford wants the 4 brake caliper bolts replaced, not re-used.
Just a FYI - it seems Ford has started doing this any time the part has loctite or sealant on it. Rather than just telling you to use whatever, they just tell you to replace the fastener. Same thing with some locknuts.

Now brake bolts may be a bit different - they may be worried about them getting embrittled because of the heat stress. But you will come across a lot of fasteners where Ford tells you to replace, and it's just because
A) that's more parts sales for Ford
B) Ford doesn't have to take the liability of telling you exactly how much and what type of loctite or sealant to use

Frank, it is basically only needed when doing the rear brakes with the electronic assist parking brake. If you don't put the Bronco in Maintenance Mode, when you remove the caliper there will no longer be any tension on the brake piston. Bronco will assume pad wear and push the piston out looking for tension. There won't be any, so the piston will eventually extend far enough it just falls out, and you will have also exposed the brake fluid to air.
I found this out the fun way on our F150. Now I preach to save others the aggrivation.
