I just purchased a Braptor from my Ford dealer. I believe this is unit #30 that I have purchased from this dealer.

I purchased a brake controller from them after the fact and had them install it.

I really feel like I got hosed after paying the invoice and after reading the install instructions afterwards.

My total charge to my card was $1108.00. This was for the Ford brake controller and install.

They have 3.5 hours install time on the invoice @ $205.00 per hour. I was told this was done by their #1 Factory Ford Technician.

Did I get hosed or is this the going rate?

My dealer says their shop rate is $250/hr right now.

They wanted to charge me $500 to program the door keypad - which takes about 10 minutes to do if you have never done it before. Seems like 2 hrs is about their minimum charge for anything.

Also, isn't there the set rate for the DIO trailer tow package on a new Bronco - like $500 total?

That doesn’t include any trailer brake controller though.

I think you should take the information presented by @ralexander1211 above, to the General Manager of your dealership and ask his opinion.

That's pretty salty. While a lot of us dealer feel Ford's accessory times are not accurate (especially on this type of install) it's off the other way when they pay us labor to install a cargo or floor mats. Open door, throw in, close door.

You got Braptor taxed!
And stealer'ed.

Edit: Okay, sorry I don't mean to pile on. I know situations like this are frustrating. When I bought my Bronco I didn't do much research on running boards. Dealer charged $1200 and I (ignorantly) assumed it was the going price. Salesperson said "Installation's free." Later find out that the boards cost ~$600, and they tacked on $200 for installation. When I inquired she said "Oh, I meant Installation was 'included' and of course we would refund you the difference in final price."

Who knows what would have happened. In the end they worked with me before I got too upset and sold me the boards at MSRP (still 10% more than I should've paid), and refunded the difference.

In other words, good luck. Sucks feeling taken advantage of.

I put my own brake controller in. Took about an hour and I’m OCD. Probably could have done it in 30 minutes if I hurried.
