First saw your post on a FB group, Blue lakes is one of my absolute favorite places. Found it by accident almost 20years ago looking for McCullough Gulch trail. Breck had just gotten their first snow, around 30in, and the gate for McCullough was closed, so I kept going. We made it a short distance before I had to park, then hiked the rest of the way to the upper lake not even knowing it was there. I had a hunch because the dam gave off a distinct line. What an amazing surprise once we crested that dam! It's a must visit when I'm in the area now.

While it is not offroad, one of the best places to hang in Breck is Breckenridge Distillery.
If you fly they don't ship (at least they didn't so we packed the goods in bubble wrap inside socks in our checked bags and put candles in our carryon- don't put candles in carryon, sensors get tripped as if it was C4)
But lo and behold found a bottle of their bourbon at the ABC in Duck, NC last week

2nd, we pick up a bottle or two of the Breck distillery goods every year. Good stuff.
Mmmm Duck doughnuts. There is a local ish franchise of Duck doughnuts in the Chesterfield area of STL. It's been a while as I am not super close but a treat for sure. Have taken several vacations to the outer banks and getting some Duck doughnuts was always on the itinerary.
