Well, as expected, that tiny little threaded tie rod on the rack and pinion was the weak point. Hardly even sent it but as my tire crested the top of the log, the force on the back of the wheel snapped the tie rod. I could be wrong here but I don’t feel I was even ragging on it. What’s the fix? Clearly a new OEM rack just won’t do.

Yeah, that little bump hardly warrants a broken tie rod. Ford needs to do better.

It’s definitely stronger now than it was. If it only drove straight I would keep the upgraded tie rod.

Perhaps that’s the new tierod disco feature for increased articulation.

Lame. Ford needs to roll out the HD steering parts from SEMA before this gets embarrassing. A stock truck should be able to steer over a wet log.

Trying to figure that out. Anybody know if I can just replace the driver side rod. I believe I saw a diagram on here that showed it as a replaceable part. Anybody got a part number?
