Why shouldn’t they? Hope so. I have driven millions of miles beat the crap out of vehicles and had minimum problems. Most nothing like a broken drivetrain with 270 miles.

No one should be able to break this truck this easy. Not good…
Because a guy on a forum posted about a warranty issue...you think THIS warrants press involvement?

C'mon guy, be reasonable.

Sorry....shouldn't have broken doing what he was doing. My point is that it must be a defective part. Responding the posts about him abusing it, which he was not. Of course, and part can be defective.

Like I said earlier, you can hang a wheel on the IFS all day long.

Screenshot_20210721-205707_Samsung Internet.jpg

But when all 4 wheels are strapped down to a transporter and hit a few big dips in the road, you have 5k+ pounds heading up, and the trailer trying to pull it back down at the same time.. That's what causes the issues.

The GT350s and GT500s are shipped with spacers in the suspensions that are removed when doing the Post Delivery Inspections. They're to prevent overextending and bottoming out.

Most are installed to prevent movement so vehicle does not contact the trailer. They are to protect the body.

I think it's safe to say you can drive these cars on a race track and fully extend and contract the suspension without breaking them...

I was looking over in the Ranger forum and saw a few different threads on CV joint issues shortly after release. A few were over extended when upgrading suspensions, another mentions the snap rings weren't properly seated during original assembly. I think it was post #14 in this thread.

Don't attempt to fix it yourself or the warranty claim is out the window.

that looks more like hard pack gravel, rather than loose gravel.. lockers engaged in a tight turn, there might not have been enough wheel slip. also sometimes if there is load on the drive train, the lockers don't disengage instantly. also in the initial post there was some mention of wheel cameras... there might have been attempts to perform tasks which might be outside of the design parameters... we need more tick-toc videos... my vote is operator error which will be repaired under warranty.
If it was operator error then Ford is going to sell these CV's like mini doughnuts at the fair.

These should not be that fragile... Period........

Hope it’s a one off as well... but it’s likely a batch of parts since things like tempering and all are generally done in batches.

Sorry you’re having issues OP... hope it gets sorted soon.

Having spent the last two decades in Quality, sometimes things break. Could have been a bad part, poor assembly, user error. A whole bunch of things could have led to this. Hopefully, it's an isolated incident.

if you are in 4wd with lockers engaged, and you have all 4 tires in full contact with the ground without any slip, something has to give. it the tires don't slip, in a turn locked up parts will break. that is why the owner's manual on ANY 4wd says for use on slippery surfaces only. do not drive on roads with 4wd engaged unless it is on slippery surfaces.. the tires slip or parts break.

When did he say he was “abusing the crap out of it”, that was all the other monkeys.

good luck with the Bronco, just an unlucky fluke.

That sucks. Has to be a one off imo. They absolutely thrashed these things during testing for quite a while because it took them so long to get them out. I have to believe this was just a defective part. We shall definitely see if more people start having similar issues.
