I wouldn't have known my Bronco was 6th generation if it weren't for this group and its name. I've been roaming our planet since the 60s and personally recall some of the different versions. I was following the story that Ford was planning to relaunch the Bronco for what seemed like 8 years or so.... Anyway, I was curious to see a summary of the generations... production dates, specs, photos... I figured someone here must have done this or have seen it somewhere.

Admin update: here's a great infographic posted by @redone17 and from a link buried in this thread.

To me, there are four (4): the 66-77; the 78-79; the 80-96; and the 2021 to the present.

I know the technical reasons why it's the sixth, but if Fiberwerx can make bedsides and front ends for 80-96 Broncos, then... it should be something less than a "generation" in my opinion. I roll with the generally accepted 6G, EB, 78-79, and FSB. Not a big deal unless someone is looking for a specific generation or parts for one. The photo @redone17 posted is the best cheat sheet.

Better yet, collect one of each! 1st gen tend to go for big $, but the rest can usually be found in rust free states relatively cheap! Love checking out used car listings on Craigslist out west! My 4th gen is from Nevada. Still looking for a 78/79 out there!

I had a gen two and and a four. I wish I had kept the gen two. The four had the smaller motor. I learned my lesson if they offer a bigger motor get it! Love my gen 6 so far.

This is a good point for the purist, and shows alot of how Ford operated through those years. From 78-96 Bronco was part of the F-series truck group. It's "generations" are the same as F-series pickups. There wasn't a "superduty" back then. F-150, F-250, and F-350 were all variations built on the same platform, as was Bronco (full size as they called it then). Only 1st gen, and now 6th gen were ever thier own animal (which blew me away when they announced the launch of 6g). Although one could argue 6g shares alot w/Ranger

So if it shares alot with the ranger would that not make it a BroncoII/again

I love how the little boosted engines produce more horsepower and torque than the outdated NA ones did.
I love how the loping V8 motors will still be around long after these little turbo boosted motors have been melted down and made into cheap lawn ornaments.

It can't be Bronco (aswell) if its the only Bronco. Thats why we got Bronco sport(aswell). Plus completely different Ranger! Shouldn't Fox body mustang have been Fairmont II?
