It’ll be a few more minutes since the video is 57 minutes long and was only posted 43 minutes ago.Can we get a written summary. I’m not watching a video
It's not a shocker, however, a lot of people seem confused on the oil quantity. I also actually listed the correct torque spec for the oil filter canister.I predict:
there is always some residual undrained oil left in an engine.
A SHOCKER!
you're a saint. thanks for the summaryQuick summary - He was able to drain out 7 qts of oil because he theorized the Bronco has a short drain back period. He waited close to 48 hrs after the last engine crank before he did his oil change, giving ample time to drain back into the pan. He was able to do a warm oil drain because he has the optional block heater which heated the oil to 124 degrees without the engine on.

ENGINE PRIME FUNCTION????
I have read the on line Owners Manuel. The word PRIME is not in it.
How does he know about this function. Is it something an owner should know about?
And thank you for posting this. I plan to do a very long drain interval next time.
Technically its a "Clear Flood Mode" that cranks the engine without fuel and spark to evacuate fuel flooded cylinders, most manufacturers have a version, but it can be used to prime the oil system. It can also be done on manual equipped Broncos, just throttle and clutch. Is the oil prime feature a Ford thing? The Bronco is my first Ford and I've never seen it before. Cool feature. Just did an oil change and was able to utilize this feature.
Is oil priming even necessary on these engines? After an oil change some oil remains on parts that require it, and upon starting the engine oil begins circulating within a few seconds I would imagine. It’s a cool idea but is the primary function for clearing flooded cylinders (does this even happen with fuel injected engines?) and folks have just started using it to do an oil prime that isn’t even necessary? It would be good to hear from an actual Ford tech on this.Technically its a "Clear Flood Mode" that cranks the engine without fuel and spark to evacuate fuel flooded cylinders, most manufacturers have a version, but it can be used to prime the oil system.
