Excellent photos, thank you.

For all your F-150 2.7 people, has Ford sorted out the design problems with the plastic oil pans? I believe I read they can crack and leak, what is the full story?

Thanks for photos. I‘ve often wondered what was under the hoses and stuff.

I figure these will come in handy later when people are trying to identify where things are located or what certain things are. Since it was a nice sunny day and no engine bay to get in the way, I took these for reference:

I long for the days I could rebuild the top end in my garage in a weekend, I will be lucky to change the oil on this bitch!
Oil changes are actually super easy. The drain plug is a quarter turn o-ring plug that you can remove by hand. The filter is a top-mounted cartridge style that results in basically no mess and a super quick job. The Coyote in my F-150 is a garbage nightmare in comparison, with a horizontal oil filter that purposely dumps oil directly onto the crossmember so that the truck continues to leave drips underneath for a week afterwards.

Im going to laugh in a few years when people are able to turn the 2.3 into a monster or something crazy that cant be done with the 2.7. I am not saying this is going to happen, but thats how things ironically seem to turn out. Watch the 2.3 somehow become the desired motor long term....
Honesty long term it'll have more to do with the number of pedals then the displacement.

The market will be flood with 2.7 autos with fewer 2.3 manuals. Generally the rare options demand a premium in the long run ( like 20 years from now)

I am not trying to start a auto vs manual debate, I don't really care.

If I can rebuild the top end I can change the oil, was being snarky  . But I know what you mean, my RV will dump 7 qts right on the crossmenber, had to make an offset catch pan with drain hose to stop oil splashing everywhere.

Without the hoses and wiring, it looks ok.
With everything attached, it is a mess.

It already is a monster. 7 speed manual with a crawler gear. :ROFLMAO:
