It started out as clueless people not realizing they need to turn their phone horizontally to film properly, and any video of someone moving side to side was horrible, usually poorly panned, and difficult to watch.

With the rise of Instagram stories, TicToc, and now YouTube shorts, the majority of monetized video content is now consumed on a phone, so most people are purposely filming vertically.

The battle is lost.
