I was grateful to learn last week I'd squeaked in with some the last 2021 Model Year builds. (Nov. 15 build date on a July 30, 2020 reservation - Black Diamand 2.3L auto.). I wrote my dealer to ask about Ford's Bronco "customer satisfaction funds" hoping it might help pay for the MIC Hardtop roof I opted to forego in my original order.

The dealer – who has really been communicative so far - said that in fact these funds are only for those who aren't getting Model Year 2021 builds. I totally get it and am not complaining. Lots of folks who haven't seen a VIN for day one reservations or have watched their dealers play some unconscionable games.

As the Free Press article notes:

Ford's letter provides these as examples for distribution:
  • "A special thank you for customers who need to come in for a replacement hardtop roof or who take a Bronco test drive while they wait."
  • "A surprise & delight gift as part of (20)22 model year order consultations."
  • "Assistance for customers who may have expressed a concern over their current vehicle needs getting through the wait time."
The letter includes this advice on use of the money to manage waiting customers:
  • Provide payment assistance to an interim vehicle purchase/lease
  • Help with rental vehicle coverage
  • Cover their vehicle's next scheduled maintenance
  • Offer a discount toward a Ford Protect Extended Warranty or Maintenance Plan
  • Buy a bottle of their favorite bourbon or spirit to thank them for their loyalty and patience.
I'm grateful Ford scheduled my build. Full stop. Sharing this since it was still news to me.

Yeah, I heard something similar from my dealer. From the Bronco specialist "The satisfaction funds are not available at this time. GM tried getting with Ford on those and they cannot be claimed right now."

Your dealer can use their allotment of funds as long as the receipt for whatever you decide to use it for is dated September 1st or later. We can not claim them just yet, but that will come later this month. Also, there is nothing stopping a 21MY Bronco customer from receiving part of the funds. It blows my mind how out of the loop some stores are . . . .

Towne Ford in Redwood City listened learned and did me right. Jorge Ibarra is your guy there.

Great…so I had an August 2020 reservation and was instructed by Ford NOT to place an order until MY 22 opened up since I would not see a Bronco in MY 21 due to the amount of earlier reservations. I have no doubt, I will be told the customer satisfaction funds will be for MY 21 ORDERS that were pushed into MY 22 and since I did not order until MY 22 opened I am SOL. I can only chuckle at this point.

Yes, I have to agree that these funds ARE available for MY 21. I am a day 1 reservation, a January 21 order, was re-scheduled like 5 or 6 times. My dealer received my trade-in in July because we thought (long time ago!) that the Bronco would be delivered in August, which of course did not happen.

Fast forward to October 1st, my dealer called (yes, after I inquired about getting those funds) and offered their Bronco mannequin, and that he would use my share of these funds towards the "loaner rental fee". I was thrilled, because I was able to drive a Bronco for the last 6 weeks and he gets money towards that vehicle, which he will still sell at a profit. Win/win for both of us.

BTW, my BD is on its way, and should be here next week, and I just returned the loaner yesterday because I wanted to help make it available to someone else too.

My message, talk to your dealer and be kind but firm, especially if you ordered as early as January or February. This is not funny money, we all seriously have had impacts because of these delays and it is absolutely OK to receive something in return, our customer loyalty towards FORD is what sustained the Bronco program beyond their start-up mishaps!
