Worst oil change in my Opinion is the 2.3l I4 in my 09 Fusion...what a PITFA.

Stupid plastic skid plate setup. Then the G@#$m Mother#@$&% oil filter is one of those drop a plate you have to spin off and out comes this little car tampon mess while the plate you spin off holds about 3 gal of oil and dumps all over your hands that you have shoved up in the som$!*# skid plate like a proctologist working on a patient who has not taken a #2 since Bush...the first one.

While you clean your hands looking for a road flare but stop short because you don't want to burn down your house. Once your blood pressure comes down into the low 100's and you work up the nerve to re-assemble this contraption with the effort of a science project due in 4hrs. You finish and after completion drink an equal amount of crown royal to the oil you just put in the engine that by the way is more than the displacement of the engine....breath....in.....breath....out.

Local mom/pop shop does oil changes full synthetic for like $35. Canā€™t even do it myself for that price. And even if I could it would take me longer than 20 minutes.

and thatā€™s after the free first few oil changes

Buying my Edge gave me enough FordPass points for 4 free oil changes.

Just buy one oil change, use mobile 1 20k/ 12 mo oil. Trade it in and buy the raptor/tremor. First year oil change problem solved.

I go by what the oil life gauge tells me. I've had 1 oil change so far at about 1,500 miles. It has 1,600 on it now at 82 oil life left. I don't usually make it to the 2nd change as I trade often and will always be in debt to Ford.

My post was purposefully over the top.

I did take my car to a Quick Lane a few times and liked going there with the price point. Problem is the nearest QL now is like a 20mile drive. I worked at a quick lube for 1-2yrs my Sr of high school and afterword a little.

To me the largest problem with changing your own oil is the old oil and filter disposal

Wow, I can't stand a messy oil change.. Wonder who will come up with a fumoto style plug for the 2.7? I'm actually surprised this isn't done already. UPR has a Billet Oil Drain Plug, looks like it drains the same way tho.

Currently, I have a slow leak in my POS, so I just add oil every month or two. Can't really figure out where it's coming from, tired of looking. Automatic oil changes! It just needs to last one more year...

Not a fan of the idea using a plastic oil pan on a rock hopper. I hope there is armor and decent protection under the engine.

I burn my used oil in my burn pile and put the filter in the trash.
Can't do that in the burbs unfortunately. Have in the past done this...diesel oil works great on a nice big burn pile for a bon fire.

I have like 5-7 5quart mobile 1 containers I need to take to the autozone.

I used up my Fordpass points yesterday on an oil change and Bronco Bluetooth speaker. Iā€™ll do mine oil changes going forward, Iā€˜ll use Mobile 1 and an oem oil filter.

I think one of the evolutions of the 2.7 oil pan has been to go to a gasket instead of a liquid sealant.
