Wouldn't that just be door with the window rolled down. I mean you could just knock out the glass and call it a half door.
That’s exactly what you have.

I like Donut Doors. Why do they not pass the test? I don't get this!

Doesn't surprise me. No door beam going across to provide structural support. In the tube doors you have the basic safety cell elements of the standard door, just no door skin on them.

The term has become bastardized, but used to mean doors with a lower waistline.

Now they even call tube doors half doors for some reason.

Then they should put a beam inside the cutout door... or skin on the tube door.

The beam would go right across the donut. Sorta defeats the purpose. I bet they tried to go with a halo architecture but couldn't make it strong enough while keeping the weight down for easy install/removal

if you look at where the donut doors sit in comparison to the tube doors. on a side impact you would essentially have car material entering the vehicle directly into the legs of the occupant where as the tube doors offer slight protection in this area (the handles are metal).

If you look at it rationally. Tube doors and especially no doors are just as dangerous (no doors will kill you in a side impact)

But its likely that the material of the door also folded inward and produced sharp material that cut up the dummies.

Not disappointed. Theyre kinda like the El Camino of doors. Part truck part car or part door part no door. If youre gonna put a door with a giant hole in it on there why not just take the entire door off?

LOL. So, just like Jeep, Ford can’t figure out how to make a door with a hole in it. Government regulations?

This is more about profit than anything. Of course Ford can get the doors to pass crash testing by adding more rigidity in the door, but the margins won't allow it.

Leave it to the aftermarket to solve another shortcoming by Ford.
