To be clear - my 2019 4Runner actually does something like this. It responds to Hey Alexa, but certainly won't guide you to the Bass Pro Shop nearest you.

so I vote this is 65% april fools joke and a portion accidental reality.

This is 100% possible with Android Auto. While I believe this is well within the realm of possibilities, my understanding was that Ford has deeper ties with Google and Android than Amazon, so I call BS on the story.

• How do I access Ford+Alexa with SYNC AppLink?
  
  Download the current version of Ford+Alexa through your smartphone’s marketplace
  1. Sign in to Ford+Alexa using your Amazon account user name and password and agree to the terms and conditions.
  2. Turn on your ignition.
  3. Disable Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. SYNC AppLink and CarPlay / Android Auto cannot run simultaneously.
  • Carplay: Settings > Apple CarPlay Preference > Disable
  • Android Auto: Settings > Android Auto Preferences > Disable
  4. Connect the phone to SYNC 3’s AppLink.
  • iPhones connect to AppLink via USB
  • Android devices connect to AppLink via Bluetooth
  5. Ensure mobile apps are enabled. Go to Settings > Mobile Apps > Enable Mobile Apps > On and agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Now you’re ready to use Ford+Alexa with AppLink. Press Apps on the SYNC 3’s feature bar and select Ford+Alexa. If the app does not appear, make sure it is running on your phone.
  7. To get started simply say “Alexa”.

Good jokes. Honestly this is already built into Android Auto. I never use it but there are many times when random phrases from podcasts or books get misinterpreted as "hey google" and activate it.
