Not sure if anyone has posted this yet so in an effort to add to the multiple topic creation mess, here it is. Our 1st FCTP unit is sold and going through the process of installing different customer requested modifications. I'll have a pic when all done but for now, just have this.

Letters got a red vinyl applique so it was just easier to get new than try to have the sign shop do them while still attached. The obvious thing is no melted posts which seems like a good thing if you want or need to remove these for whatever reason. The nut is just a 5mm, what I call "speed nut", that's used for various body and trim attachment. One of our OG body guys made the suggestion and it was kinda one of those, ah ha moments. Ford part number is W707501-S900 and comes in packs of 4. I'm sure you can also find these in aftermarket like Auveco or Wurth.

Ahh the way it should have been all along. Thanks @flip.
And yes, you can buy these all over the place if you know the right I.D. needed on the speed nut.
Or you can do like I do and just buy a multi-pack assortment in a small plastic divided tray.
But I use them for multiple uses, different custom uses, so the variety pack suited my needs well.

Smart! I didn't realize before reading this you could buy just the letters. Is that part number M2DZ8A224AAPTM ?

That is correct. Kinda pricey for the set but not many options out there until someone starts making reproductions.

Good stuff, thanks @flip. The whole melting thing was bizarre in the first place. What is the cost of a set?

So what would I need if I wanted to paint my grill but retain the stock letters? Taping/stickering seems iffy.

6G price on letter set is just under $79.00 and the nuts are about $0.90/ea. Not sure how many total are needed for the whole letter set.

I did add them to the store for S&Gs.

Sorry if I missed something - just to confirm it looks like the replacement letters already have threaded pins? So all we need to do is order a set of letters and about a dozen or so speed nuts? Thanks!

The nut is made so it cuts it's own threads.

Great find! You know if the studs on the back of the letters are 1/8"?

You mean like this? This customer only buys race red vehicles and so we took the letters to our local sign shop and they charged us something like $20 per letter to create the vector file and apply. I have no idea what they would charge just for the precut letters but I'm sure they built design time into the price. Vinyl is just attached to the face of the letter. If you want the whole thing RR, you'll probably need to find a body shop to mix and match the body color.

The existing letters have the studs either heat or frequency melted like a rivet. Probably a dremel, small nippers or solder gun would get the job done.

To qualify this. The front and rear bumpers along with the wheels are powder coated this argent color. We still have to paint the SAS flares and spare delete but I'm not a huge fan of the color combos. We did a RC lift and it's getting 37"s so we'll see what the final product looks like. He wanted us to paint the MIC body color but probably have him convinced to have it color wrapped as there's no return and no undoing once you start sanding.
