Could definitely do that however there is a reason Ford didn’t make that into production. Automotive grade leathers are much more rigid and have high amounts of UV protectant. Because of this, distressed and nubuck finishes don’t work with these protectants and thus relegated to furniture and fashion leathers.

What that means is the leather will wear quicker over time, the dye will fade quicker as it’s exposed to more sunlight, and the leather may tend to stretch more as it’s softer and more elastic than automotive grade leather.

But it’s certainly doable however customers need to be aware of these factors.

This explains why King Ranch leather tends to go to shit a few years later.

I always thought leather wrapped grab handles would be pretty sweet.

That is one of my thoughts that might be a popular option.

Perhaps you can coordinate with another member who is a wood craftsman and offer your skills to mesh with his. He intends to craft grab handles with exotic wood. Having it wrapped with leather would really make a nice combination. I'll have to see if I have bookmarked his thread.
