So I'd do a poll if I knew how;
How long is the avg lifespan of a Bronco? Could be generic due to the amount of electronics in all cars these days, but it's getting to the point it should be prohibitively expensive to keep a car 10+ years due to the amount of electronic vs mechanical integration. If you buy a $60k+ car is it worth it to only last 8-10 years before repair is more expensive that vehicle value?

How long do you think your Bronco will last?

This will be supplementing my 2004 f150, not replacing it, it's got a lot of life let to go. Hoping with the aluminum panels the Bronco will look a whole lot better than my 150's aged, 20 years down the road.

The math. I had a 2005 Xterra that was my best purchase ever as the optics are so desirable.. Xterra, 18 years old at 120k miles = 7k miles a year at cost of $1,611 a year assuming truck cost of 28k in 2005. Assuming same time frame the new truck cost to own at 57k is $ 3,300 approx a year over same time frame... with inflationary presure on the dollar over that time frame its more than reasonable so long as ford built it right and It can last as long as it should..... but, go woke go broke.

Let's see if ford is still worth a shit.

I have 50 of them in stock, do I resell as planned or hoard them for life? 😁

I think the tech, sensors, and especially the electrical system etc.. will brick out in 10 years. Fixable/Supported for another maybe 10. So 20 years. It’s not a snarky comment, I do think Ford has shot themself in the foot making it so tech dependent and fly by wire.

Ford doesn’t have a great track record with fit and finish holding up over time in certain eras and models.. Pretty much look at any 5th Gen mustang interior.

I don’t think there’s much to go wrong with the bronco interior however. I can see these hard tops having issues over time. OE soft tops for sure.

if/when it happens I’ll have to see if we’re at a point I can basically replace powertrain and drivetrain with off the shelf, mechanical parts. Motor. Transmission, Transfer Cases, Solid Axels, etc.

Cross that bridge when I get there I guess and see what others are doing. I told myself this is my last new purchase. 🤷🏻‍♂️ We’ll see. 😂

Axle swaps, engine swaps, trans swaps. Get rid of the tech and replace it with mostly mechanical. If you keep the body nice enough it should last for a long time.

In it’s stock form who knows? Hopefully longer then 10 years

Soft tops should be considered a wear item. I say this as someone who has owned three different Mustang drop tops. Another reason I ordered the MIC top.

Most mechanical parts will have replacements forever. I'm thinking the APM that is bricking the screen or something electrical where the dash always has errors (like when some people takes the door off) or it doesn't switch GOAT mode, radio doesn't work or perhaps some climate control.

I finally ditched my first car when the heat stopped working after 23 years (AC was already broken) and there were enough other things wrong it was just more cost effective and safer to get a new one. I loved it, but it was time to go.

So in 10-12 years when it won't change GOAT mode, perhaps doesn't even go in gear, the screen blacks out, replaced the fuel pump yet again or error messages are always popping up and the part and perhaps replacing it costs more than the value of the car (perhaps 15 years old). Its not just the Bronco either.. any new car has tons of computers in it that will not last as long as the engine, trans, etc. I just wonder how many cars you'll see 20 yrs old in 20 years. I still see them all the time, but I'm guessing that will be coming to an end.

We'll keep it until it leaves my wife stranded on the road somewhere. That's pretty much her criteria, she loves 'em till they let her down, then they must go.

I bought 8yr 100k premium care. I'm at 11,9xx miles exactly 1 year after delivery. So I should be good until 2030. Past that who knows.
