I guess I'm not up to date on the failures with Gladiator, I think it looks fantastic. I'm guessing sales is a factor, and bent frame rails the other, but when I see one (especially Rubicon Trim), I like it.

Now if Bronco made something similar, I think it beats Gladiator, hands down, but not sure a case can be made yet to produce one.
I agree the Rubicons and Mojaves with taller suspension and bigger tires look pretty good from the front quarter, but those beds look terrible. I've also heard that they are too shallow to be useful with a tonneau cover on.

I would buy one in a second. I don't have the need for a full size truck. But the utility of a bed would be nice. Towing should be more than the Bronco as well. Removable doors and top panels. Sold!!! If it gets announced before I'm ready to buy I'm waiting.

Gotta say it looks a lot better than the Gladiator, at least in the sketches.

They sold 77,000 of them last year vs. 201,000 Wranglers.

Ford sold 101,000 Rangers last year, Toyota sold 238,000 Tacomas. GM sold 120,000 Colorados/Canyons.

So not a raging success, but still respectable numbers.
This supports what I've been seeing in CA, not sure about the rest of the country, but Wranglers to Gladiators seem to be around 3:1. However, with that being said, I still see ton's of Gladiators on the road out here. I'd be curious how many of the Ford/GM/Toyota units are fleet sales. The idea of a Bronco truck would make complete sense to me as Ford put a bullseye on the Wrangler unit sales, and would of course want a piece of the Tacoma market.

Two different markets:

Jeep Wrangler = off-road/soccer mom/weekend warrior/Jeep loyalist crowd.

Toyota Tacoma = outdoor lifestyle/city dweller crowd that doesn't need a full-size truck or have room to park one but needs a bed for occasional Home Depot/IKEA runs and helping their buddy move to a new apartment.

Gotta take out Wranger once and for all!

Who believes it will? They're not going to pull a RAM and make it a brand. It's a sub-brand in the way that F-series is a sub-brand, but still a Ford.

And no regarding Maverick, it'll fall under the Ford truck umbrella.
I agree.
I thought Ford was pretty clear a year or so ago when they announced they would sub-brand Bronco and Mustang. And while I think that led everyone to believe Maverick would fall under the Bronco umbrella... the leaked photos of its tailgate with the large stamped oval shape in it says otherwise.

As I said in one of the other threads I dont think it would do anything but possibly cannibalize Ranger sales.

Please not a copy of the wildly unsuccessful Gladiator. Just make a Ranger Bronco edition or something.
Wouldn’t say the Gladiator is unsuccessfu, sold over 77k in 2020 and around 40k in 2019. Comparing that to the Ranger it’s not selling as well, over 101k in 2020 and around 89k in 2019.

Whether it’s looks or some of its capabilities are subjective, but it is popular. Around me in NY I see plenty of Gladiators rolling around. But for Ford at least I think it’s going to be somewhat crowded in the pickup truck segment if there’s a Bronco pickup truck coming down the pipe. Between the current line up and then adding the Maverick (I know it’s not a body on frame truck) and a Bronco truck, that’s a lot of choices and they could possibly eat into one another’s sales. Especially since a Bronco pickup truck will be on the same platform. It needs to have more differentiation other than removable doors and roof.

Anyway a Bronco pickup truck is probably coming down the pipe whether we like it or not.
