First off I want to thank @flip for the hitch and trailer brake controller.

Parts I purchased for this install.
1- Bronco Raptor hitch
2- captured 3/8 nuts
1- Borla muffler 2.5 offset/center
1- 3” stainless j bend pipe

I haven’t seen any info on this yet, and I thought I would share. Short story is I removed factory hitch, removed rear muffler. Then I installed Borla muffler midship and built new tailpipe. Also built temporary kicker bars until oem braces become available. The factory crossmember has spots for captured nutrecommend m10’s but I only had one in the tool box so I used 3/8 nuts until I change the braces out. Sorry in advance for terrible pics. Lol

I hope this helps anyone that is thinking about doing this.

Interesting. They made the flange bigger and thicker to spread out the pressure on the rear crossmember.

Personally I'm going to try to find some way to reinforce the hitch but I wasn't planning on replacing it unless it was with an aftermarket bumper or at least one that goes from frame rail to frame rail.

Awesome, this is what I am planning on doing with my Badlands. Do you have part numbers for the Raptor hitch and reinforcing parts?

Edit: Thanks to @flip Part number NB3Z-17D826-A

I have a dum question. Why are you using a Bronco Raptor hitch?

because more stronger uga uga boom boom. But on a real note there is paranoia with the stock hitch because a few idiots have damaged it.

A couple benefits of the raptor hitch is that it's built with a little heavier gauge steel than the OE version, has provisions if someone wanted to fab up the kicker bars (like Farmerjack) AND they have added a "tongue" below the 7/4 pin connector presumably to provide some protection when entering and leaving steep obstacles. Is it worth the price difference from the Ford accessory kit? That depends on what you're doing with your rig. You break the 7/4 pin connector off and that probably covered the difference between the two.

I put one on mine less the kickers.

The factory hitch is rated for the Bronco's tow rating. Let me repeat that: THE FACTORY HITCH IS RATED FOR THE BRONCO'S TOW RATING!

So the only reason to do this is if you plan on exceeding the Bronco's tow rating. Good luck if you get in an accident while doing so...

Edit: Ok, I read Flip's post, I do agree that the added protection for the connector is worth the upgrade. But still, don't be dumb and tow over the max, that still applies.

Was wondering if this could be done, thanks for experimenting. The added strength of tying it to another cx member would be worth the piece of mind to me regardless of what one was towing.

Moving the muffler like you did also opens up the space for a hidden rear winch or some other behind the bumper mount item.

At what drop is that calculated? In Flip's photo that hitch has a drop of maybe 3 1/2"(?), if one uses that amount of drop, does max tow still apply?
