We just got done test fitting our new Bronco Raptor rear shock skid kit. it was a little tricky to get something that works with the floating rear lower mount and would still be strong but I think we have something that will work great. Check it out. We are doing the first production run of these now. Let us know if you want to get some from the first batch. We also have a lower arm frame guard coming next week too.

Can this be installed without removing the rear wheels and the vehicle just on the ground?

you have to pull the bolts that hold the main shock mount on the rear axle so it may be hard to do without putting up on a lift or with more than one floor jack to jack up the body and let the axle droop out all the way.

I just installed a pair of these skids with the wheels/tires on but with the respective side jacked up in the air as Greg mentioned. Thanks Greg for having well done fixtures - this one was a close fit!.

I purchased a sweet jack from Harbor Freight that made the job rather simple.

It was easy to obtain full droop. I found that you want to back off just a hair and let the tire just touch the ground such that you can't spin it. That alleviates pressure (upward or downward) at the mount and allows you to slip the bolts out, slide the skid into place, and then install the new, supplied bolts. I put a couple of blocks under the assembly and fine tuned with a pry bar to make it even easier.

Last picture is nicely composed and shot. Heck the parts are nice too 😉.

Thanks. I just put mine on without removing the wheels. Found that if you get the tire at the right pressure on the ground bolts are easy in and out. I was dreading removing the wheels so your post helped a lot. Only issue I saw was getting the proper torque on the bolts/nuts but doable.

Anybody bang these skids on some rocks yet? I am on fence if I need these for my Moab trip Spring of 2025. I had some skids on my OBX and I hit them all the time but it seems the Raptor shocks are tucked tighter to the tires.

How do these drain? I'm in the PNW and mud and water are constant. Will the shocks just be sitting in a bath of mud and water all the time?

There are drain holes in the bottom to let the water and mud out. Just hard to see in these pics.

Look closely at the inside bottom on the skid on the right and you'll see the holes.
