Awesome! So did the shocks come with the perch ready to go? Were you able to swap the top hat? I just want to confirm all you needed to order was shocks/springs.

@Bigmoose Perch came on it and the top hat swapped over and fit nice. Only thing that potentially could matter is the bumper/shock guard. The Hitachi one works. I just don't know if it limits suspensions travel or allows too much as I don't have the dimensions of the sasquatch one and I couldn't order one.

But as far as parts, I only ordered the shocks and springs. To get the spring part number I found a sasquatched bronco with the same trim and options and gave that vin to the parts department and they were able to call up the spring for that bronco and I ordered those.

Got the front shocks and springs installed today. Brought the front up nicely. Havent had much time to ride around but Initial impressions are similar ride under normal conditions.

It ended up being a reasonable investment. I am about $1500 ($1200 parts and shipping, $300 shop) in with the shop doing the front install. Front Springs are short and stiff, even the shop commented when I dropped it off that they would be tough to compress. Can probably save a couple hundred if you can find the right sprung take off coil over set used but I am happy with how it turned out.

I just didn't believe it would be as simple a swapping the coilovers in, but look at that! Now i have to decide between going this route or going with the ford performance setup once it comes out.

Figured I should keep this conversation going since I’m working on a very similar upgrade. @BaseBD - feel free to comment here or in our conversation. I feel the more info we all share the clearer this option will be for others.

Did anyone ever find out the exact differences between the springs? I figured the difference in weight of 300 lbs or so of BD vs BL is pretty insignificant once it comes to gear, load, passengers, etc.

The setup I got is everything in the diagram below from a Sasquatch Badlands. Apologies for the terrible photo - it’s a screen shot showing me what I was receiving and what was sent to his parts manager buddy for a quote. Seeing that the shocks and springs themselves for $1200 - any indication on how much the rest wouldcost? I was told $2200 for all 4 corners including hats, covers, etc. That seems off because I can’t imagine the rest of those bits costing $1000.

I was hoping this all would bolt on seamlessly. Glad to see it’s a promising upgrade for about 1/4 the cost of other options so far. I’ve been a Bilstein fanboy for a while - so, I’m excited to see how these compare to the Hitachis.

Thanks for taking the plunge on this experiment. It’s been on my mind for a few months and as far as I can tell, you’re the only successful attempt.

@redone17 I would think badlands to BD springs should be pretty dang close to be able to run them.

When it comes to installing them the only thing that is different from the Hitachi's and the Bilsteins are the Shock, Springs and bumper. The other parts are all shared between the 2 styles. I reused all parts from the stock Hitachi shocks including the bumper to install the Bilstein springs/shocks. I do not know the difference in height for the bumpers and have not hit those limits yet. Last I check the sasquatch bumpers were fairly chearp (~150 for all four corners online) but they were on BO.

Do you have the complete Coilover or just the shock and springs?

I am doing the same thing with my 2D OBX, so I am going to share here since I think a lot of people are likely to go down the same path.

Special thanks to @flip for helping me research this!!!

I did a little research and found the following:

2D 2.7 OBX No Sasquatch
Shocks F: MB3Z-1824-A R: MB3Z-1825-A
Springs F: MB3Z-5310-M R: MB3Z-5560-D
Bump Stops F: MB3Z-18198-B R: MB3Z-5K570-B

2D 2.7 Badlands No Sasquatch
Shocks F: MB3Z-1824-D R: MB3Z-1825-D
Springs F: MB3Z-5310-K R: MB3Z-5560-F
Bump Stops F: MB3Z-18198-C R: MB3Z-5K570-C

2D 2.7 OBX Sasquatch
Shocks F: MB3Z-1824-J R: MB3Z-1825-K
Springs F: MB3Z-5310-F R: MB3Z-5560-F
Bump Stops F: MB3Z-18198-C R: MB3Z-5K570-C

So rather than do a 1" spacer lift (which would be cheap), I am going to upgrade to the Badlands No Sasquatch Suspension

Parts list for the change:
Front -
MB3Z-1824-D (x2) Front Shocks
MB3Z-5310-K (x2) Front Springs
MB3Z-18198-C (x2) Front Stops
Rear -
MB3Z-1825-D (x2) Rear Shocks
MB3Z-5560-F (x2) Rear Springs
MB3Z-5K570-C (x2) Rear Stops

Hope to get a Bronco to install these on...

Bingo! I just need a slight lift from the stock BD height so i can run 33s if i want (at least a bit easier) and also get the benefits of the better Bilstein coilovers.

I hope you get your Bronco to do the swap as well!

I also want to see the Ford Performance setup, but i don't need a lift of 2"-2.5" for my purposes, so I'm not sure if those will be able to dial down to just an 1" or 1.5" at all.

I’ve spent the last few days plugging in numbers into the calculator and tire websites to find a sweet spot.

I’m not a fan of super wide tires - so, I’ve been looking for something between 10.5-11.5. Looks like the difference in offset is just under 1”.

It looks like the Kenda Klever (35x10.5R17) are the ONLY geometry that fit exactly what I’m looking for - but, I’m not 100% sold on the sidewall design. I’ve been reading that they wear fast too. Rather spend $500 more and have them last 20-30k longer.

As of now I think I’m settling on 285/75R17 (33.8x11.2) - which will get me pretty much any brand. Basically an inch shorter in each direction from Sasquatch. “Should” make up for the offset?

Otherwise 275/80R17 (34.3x10.8) which is damn near perfect - is only available in the Good Year MT/R with Kevlar and are $$$ and have mixed reviews.

I’m going to do some more research and see if I can find other brands in 275/80 - because that seems like the sweet spot.

Then there is rating and that’s another story. Assuming if 90% of my driving will be on the road - but, I’m going to run it through its paces when I do go off-road - C/D rated will be fine? Assuming if it was a dedicated off-roader - E would be the way to go?

@redone17 Nice set up. Those should bolt right up and work for you. From an ease of installation would recommend getting the studs pressed out of the front shocks and use bolts instead.

The Patagonia M/T's seem to offer a lot for the money and they are a hybrid tire which should help them be better on-road while still having solid potential off-road when aired down. That's why I went with them.

They do come in a 315/70R17 (35"x12.5"), 285/70R17 (33"x11.2"), and a 265/70R17 (32"x10.4"). That might not be tall and skinny enough for you.
