Btw, is this something that the latest Fordpass update (SecuriAlert) would help prevent?
That’s a good question. It might not have stopped the vehicle damage, but it might have scared the thief off, or at least alerted the authorities after the fact, depending on how quickly the vehicle’s owner responded to the app notification.

I just activated that feature with the last OTA software update. I didn’t think anything about activating it or deactivating it, since my Bronco is stored in my home garage at night. Imagine my surprise when I opened the tailgate last night to check an internal measurement for a potential mod installation inside my cargo bay, and my phone dinged with an immediately alert from the FordPass app. I looked at the phone, read the alert, put it away, and said to myself, “Cool! It actually works!”

Then the app notified me again today as I was moving some stuff in and out of my console vault, later left for the grocery store, and then opened my tailgate to load my grocery bags before driving home. Each time I received an app notification, I chuckled to myself, because I never turned the system off after the initial OTA download. When I returned home and read this thread, I opened the app to read the last notification for more details.

This is what you see in the app after notifications occur and when you open the subsequent screens to see the latest notification for more details. The app tells you which door was opened, shows you where the vehicle is located on a small map, and lists the vehicle’s last known street address. It also gives you various options to: lock the doors, activate the horn/lights, report the incident, or dismiss the alert.

Since it was me opening the vehicle each time, I obviously didn’t report the incident, but it is nice to know that the feature works and the option was available.

To be honest, I really like this feature, and I think I’m going to keep it turned on for now, even if it is frequently notifying me of my own innocuous actions. I would rather keep it on and deal with all the notifications than leave it off accidentally and wish I had left it on after a real incident occurs.

Thanks for the writeup and screenshots. I've been searching the web/forum for owner impressions and your post is definitely the most informative. Now I just need Ford to push the update to my Bronco so I can start using this feature.

Big bummer; sorry that happened to you. After reading the six pages or discussion here, I have come to the following conclusion. It really sucks that law abiding citizens have to be inconvenienced in this way by the scum that takes what is not theirs. I worked hard for what I have and shouldn't have to empty my vehicle of its contents in order to park it outside of my own garage. I plan on having recovery tools, survival equipment, an air compressor, etc. in my Bronco at all times. Fortunately I own several vehicles and the Bronco will rarely, if ever, be parked outside of my garage or campsite. Both locations are protected by my right to keep and bear arms, as well as, 130 pounds of Rottweiler. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

>Seattle

dunno why anybody with family would live there or any other major city
Sounds like someone needs to travel.....Seattle has a ton to offer. Access to all the Pacific North West, which is just breath taking. Education, culture, climate, amazing universities and a great labor field for blue collar and white collar jobs.. Income levels and jobs alone are one of many key factors why many of us live within or near a large City. 10 minutes from most downtowns there are very nice single family neighborhoods. Seattle included.

Many years ago, I owned an Isuzu Rodeo.
three times it got broken into. Every time, they broke a window, when they could have easily unsnapped the top. The third time, they broke the vent window and bent the hell out of the frame.

So sorry to hear that OP. I know how it feels. My wife's Jeep was parked in a same style apartment parking lot as your Bronco. Turns out, the a-holes broke in the night before our wedding. Came out excited to pack up the truck and head to the venue, only to find a pile of glass and an emptied out Jeep. Still have pictures of the damage and in the corner of one of the shots, my wife (fiancé) is in it holding her wedding dress. Flipping a-holes.

As mentioned, have the complex pull footage of any cameras. We did and sent over to the police. Turns out these guys had hit multiple complexes so the charges kept adding up for them.

Hopefully they catch or at least ID someone for you. Hope you're having a better day.

I'm sorry that happened to you bro, I once had someone cut the window open in my convertible camaro while i was at the mall. Weird thing is they didn't even attempt to get in the car or steal anything, it was like they cut it out of spite (though perhaps they might have been interrupted and ran off). It's such a shitty feeling having someone trash your car.

I plan to eventually get motion cameras and alarms on all my cars for situations like this. I also plan to vote for the first candidate that promises to make it legal to shoot looters on sight.

A boat load of potentially erroneous assumptions on your part about the disposition of the scenario and most amusingly who the op did or did not vote for.
Maybe, but I'm going to make a potentially erroneous assumption (;)) that the first line in my unedited post eluded you:

***This is not directed at any specific poster***
I'm genuinely sorry the OP and many others are being victimized by these ridiculous crimes. There are solutions to them.

Merry Christmas To All!!!
