From tracing back engineering numbers internally in the system yes. The one stamped into the current dipstick would be for a FWD application. I did some searching on YouTube of the only model I could even find on the subject and it looked exactly like the dipstick used in a Fusion Sport 2.7 which also has the same engineering numbers albeit the last section. FT4E-6750 would be an oil level indicator for FWD 2.7 vehicles. From what I could trace back anyways. It’s from the first generation 2.7 Nano. The Bronco uses a second generation version.Maybe I missed it in this thread, but the incorrect dipstick is from another Ford vehicle that uses the 2.7?
Well at least Ford didn't mix up the head gasket part numbers like they did with the Focus RS.So what I can't believe is that you're telling me that through all the prototyping, and all the demo builds, and off rodeo builds, nobody at Ford took note that it was the wrong dipstick?
Highlights the other meaning of the word "dipstick"
Yep most likely will cause it to drop a valve...... no just kidding... won't hurt a thingThe question is… did those of us that filled only to the max fill hole on the original stick cause any damage?
I’ve apparently been running ~0.825 qt short for 2k miles since I decided to heed the owners manual text that stated specifically to not run above the max fill hole, knowing full well this contradicted the 7qt specifications (either option required disobeying the other; I chose to go with the one that allowed me to use something measured and graduated to reason about the fill level, but apparently this was the wrong decision)…
Regardless of the potential of sustained damage, I now feel the need to go perform a full drain and 7qt fill thousands of miles early since there’s no f***ing way to just add and measure where I’m at with the factory dipstick I was provided.
Looks like the range would be top of the hash to top of the twist on the "old" stick. Thanks for the reply. Interesting. A detail missed...
Someone with both sticks (OP, cough-cough) should post a DIY on how to mark the bad dipstick to show the full oil level.
The old stick MAX mark should be 7/8" higher than it is now. I can get exact measurements side by side of where the upper and lower hash marks on both sticks if that helps later today. Thanks for the reply. Interesting. A detail missed...

Re marked mine months ago... wasn't rocket science to know what was going on.... wrong dip stick...I was just thinking current owners could mark the dipsticks in their engine appropriately until they swap out with the correct P/N.
Thanks. It would help a lot of owners.
For anyone who seeks the measurements on the correct stick who want similar indicators on their current stick...as measured from the base of the handle/top of the actual stick where it inserts into the handle:Re marked mine months ago... wasn't rocket science to know what was going on.... wrong dip stick...
Yeah that is what I mean. I fill to top of the hash (or sometimes to the top hole) which in this case would actually mean a tad more than 7 qts.7 quarts puts me at just under the top line of the hash mark, which is ideal. Per Ford, anything in the hash mark area is acceptable.

I mean it is better than before, but it is clearly still not the correct stick or 7 qts would put it right at the top.
What did they say?Just had my oil changed by my dealer and noticed after the fact that the sticker on my windshield says 6qt and the oil change also shows charged for 6 quarts of oil. I guess Ford hasn't passed down the knowledge that the engine holds 7 quarts to the dealers. I'll call them on Monday to see what they have to say about it.
They will say that the latest SSM indicates that our 2.7s have now (as in since a few days ago) been confirmed to hold 6 quarts, not 7 as previously advertised by Ford. As of right now, only the Raptor is meant to hold 7.Just had my oil changed by my dealer and noticed after the fact that the sticker on my windshield says 6qt and the oil change also shows charged for 6 quarts of oil.
