Ha, my late dad collected British roadsters (had at least 6 Triumphs in various states of disrepair and a '63 Lotus Elite); 'Driving pleasure' could only be used to describe them if your idea of 'pleasure' is having to repair a hose/cable/etc. on the side of the road every single time you drove it. I borrowed his most 'reliable' TR4 for a day and had to repair the seized parking brake in a Quiznos parking lot. Just buy a Miata; all the same fun, but they don't break nonstop.Get something from England made in the 60's. That will give you all the driving pleasure you need. Manual and the ability to go around corners.
I had no idea the GTI->Bronco contingent was so big. I guess they both have a similar following, despite being wholly different vehicles. There are probably only like a half-dozen modern cars that know exactly what they are and do it perfectly, and the GTI is one of them.
