Toyota with a long O. Town with a short O, sounds like aw. "Corawla"
Thanks for the info. I've not been there, but it looks like a great place to check out if I ever get out that direction.

Hopefully I'll get mine delivered today. I've only seen one "out in the wild," and that was someone from Hickory. I'm starting to wonder if I could end up being the first in the Winston-Salem area to have one. If not the first, at least close to that.

I just hope that doesn't cause someone to wreck while rubbernecking, or worse, run into me.
I’m in Clemmons. I’ve seen a couple so far- one Area 51 big bend and a carbonized gray Badlands.
My race red badlands should be here between March and 2037.

The BB might be the show model from my dealer. Was it a soft top with Sasquatch?

Beautiful place, been going down there forever. Used to drive down the beach from Sandbridge to Carova with my pops as a kid. Still down there as much as possible in the Summer. Gonna ask you guys a favor if you go up there, stop by the Carova Volunteer Fire Dept , pick up some swag and maybe make a donation. Those guys got a tough job up there and they do it well. Keep heading North on the beach until you see their communication tower. About 11 miles up.
Saw a few new Broncos down there this summer, all 4 doors!

It was a soft top- can’t recall if it was SAS or not.

Winston-Salem here! I’m in, assuming my Bronco won’t just be a twinkle in MAP’s eye…
I grew up in winston-salem but live in north texas now. all these posts about the OBX are making me home sick. have been to duck and carolla many times with my dad and brother in the summer.

didn't know you could drive on the beach. so cool

Took my Big Bend out to the 4x4 beach today, and I ran into a couple that had an Outer Banks Sas while I was out there! They were kind enough to let me snap a picture.

The 2.3 auto combo performed far beyond expectation on the soft sands in the Outer Banks. There is little to no turbo lag, and more than enough grunt to turn the 33” tires on demand. I’ve driven a few different vehicles out here from Jk Wranglers, Tj Wranglers, 6.0 and V10 Excursions, and a 3.5 equipped F-150. The Bronco felt right at home, unlike anything else I’ve ever driven. Using the Sand G.O.A.T. mode, the increased throttle response was noticeable and helpful. I couldn’t sense an ounce of wheel spin.

The 285/75/17 Toyo AT3’s fit without any rubbing, and at 25 psi seemed to float over the sand. My BB is a base, with 3.73 axles and no locking differentials.

Would anyone be interested in a Bronco Take-over sometime next summer?? It’s probably my favorite thing to do in the OB! We could organize food and maybe a small giveaway. If you’ve never been out there, I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Did you get your bronco fender badge from bronco depot? Is that matte black? Looks great.

I’m in for a Bronco beach trip! We’re in Charlotte and never been to Corolla / OBX area. Really looking forward to taking our Badsquatch to the beach.
I just realized this was at least one post we both responded too. And in a similar fashion. This would be a great trip. Wife and I actually got engaged on Portsmouth Island, which is obviously way south of Corolla. Still, anywhere on the Outer Banks would be great!

Beautiful! I've ordered nearly the same vehicle as yours and have been drooling over these same tires. My bronco won't be here until next week, but I just heard that the dealer doesn't have the Toyo AT3 in 285/75/17. A search online shows they are pretty hard to come by. I'd love to ask you a few questions, if you've got some time to answer... :)

1) Where did you buy your tires?
2) Are these load range C or E?
3) Still no rubbing?
4) How is the noise level from the tires?

Thanks!

EDIT: Ironically, it was a trip to Corolla that reminded me how much I missed my 87 Bronco, prompting the reservation for a new one!

I've lived in NC most of my life, minus the military, and have never been to the OBX. We got our FE on Black Friday.

I may be repeating myself, but my wife has family in Rocky Mount that we always go see the week before Christmas. This year we're going to combine it with a trip to the beach!

Friday morning we're going to leave Advance, stop at NC State to Christmas shop, and go straight to Nags Head. We'll spend Friday afternoon on Corolla Beach, driving in sand and looking for wild horses.

I also plan to visit the Wright Brothers Memorial. Coincidentally, I realized this morning after an Air Force twitter post that this Friday is the anniversary of the First Flight! Hope it's not too crowded in Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills.

Saturday we'll leave and head back to Rocky Mount to see her family, then return home on Sunday.

We made it! Unfortunately we only had about 45 minutes of daylight to play around. I had a blast, and we made it up to 45mph on the edge of the water!

Being the anniversary of the first flight, we also stopped at the Wright Brothers Memorial.

Reviving this thread because im going next week!
Anybody else?

That's my favorite place in the world, and I LOVE driving my F-150 on the beach there! We usually stay in Duck, but will be in Corolla this coming May. It's absolutely worth the drive from Pittsburgh. It's so nice to see a non-squatch Big Bend there on the sands. This is all the off-roading I do, so a locking rear end and good tires aired down to 18 is all I need. Thank you for posting this, it made my night!
ps: See you in May!
