It seems that the wheels on the WildTrak and First Edition need to be wider to change that "bubble" look. I personally Like wider wheels anyway, strictly from a looks standpoint, perhaps off road performance will suffer although, not an expert. Any thoughts?

If you're going by the pics from the "Explore this Model" page on Ford's site those tires are poorly photoshopped to look wider..

Without a little bubble in the tires, you’re going to need to be extra careful not to grind the wheels on a curb.

Too funny. I agree with your feedback for I've have done that myself on a car, but never on my Dodge Ram. From the Ford "explore this model" site they simply seemed excessive.

If it’s on 17s you can park by ear. Those wheels shouldn’t touch a normal curb.

You want a little bulge for off-roading. Protects the wheel and when running low air the rim is more likely to contact tread vs sidewall. Pinch flat!

8.5 on the squatch with a 12.5 tire is a good decision in my opinion.
