The only people who get hit from the side/rear when turning on to a road are the people who did something stupid. If a semi can make a turn onto a road, a Bronco can make it.
Well that semi truck has a high intimidation factor and I bet people give it room once it starts moving.

Just because my Grandmother's 1977 diesel rabbit with a 0 to 60 time of about 25 seconds (okay more like 17 seconds) was able to pull out in traffic doesn't mean better acceleration wouldn't have been far safer. Thank heavens there weren't cell phones back in those days because after holding traffic up for the huge gap needed to pull out, you would be at the mercy of cars to slow down as there was just no way to get up to the traffic speed fast enough.

So why bother testing any vehicle acceleration?
Why is it appropriate for sports cars and not appropriate for Bronco?

Is speed the purpose of a sports car? Would you research performance numbers when looking to buy a sports car? Do you rate the towing capacity of a sports car?

Then why does the Raptor exist?
Why would Ford chose to go with speed and racing for the most extreme version of the Bronco?

Are you serious? You don’t understand the reasoning behind the Raptor version?

I do, but I'm not sure you do.

As for towing, most sports cars aren't rated for towing from the manufacturer, so it won't be listed in the published specs of auto rags.

Did you see that Car and Driver got a 7.4 second 0-60 on their long term 4 door manual Sasquatch? That seems pretty good to me.

Jason
Man that's really slow. Wonder what difference the FPP tune makes.

This is going to be an interesting 40k long term test. I'm surprised they' haven't had the rattling with the manual transmission but after 1k miles no mention of it especially after the clutch dumps with these numbers.

7.4 isn't a bad number for 5k pound brick and a new Sienna is right behind it at 7.7 per another one of their tests so at least we'll have flex in the school drop off lane.

that's a full 0.6 seconds quicker than my 1985 vw golf gti hot hatch!
and 1.9 seconds quicker than my 1988 vw jetta glitch 16V with it's
anemic 1.8L 16V 123 hp engine.

By today's standards not great, but compared to late 60's muscle car era, not bad at all. There were plenty of faster muscle car configurations that beat that, but the most common configurations sold were in that range or slower. My brother's 68 Chevelle SS could just barely break 8 seconds.
Tires of the period were the cause of a lot of those slow times.

I think my 2dr, non squatch 2.7 is the fastest basic bronco spec. Probably 6.6 or so

The tune should help as it definitely helps with the first 3 gears. The 0-60 doesn't impress me in the bronco but the 70-90 or 60-80 or so when passing does. Especially with the tune, if I get on it at highway speeds it actually squats a little now. It impressed me before but now it's closer to my BMW.
