My dealership used my reservation to order a Bronco that has been sold to someone else- WITHOUT TELLING ME. Their excuse is that it was an error on Ford's part. The only way this was discovered was via Ford's emails letting me know that my vehicle had been ordered and was going to be built.
When I contacted the salesman, he pretended to be baffled. He would not give me a manager to speak to, nor would he provide me with a phone number to anyone at Ford. (I tried customer service several times, but without a VIN, they were only able to assign a case number.) Fortunately, the family that owns the dealership is incredibly ethical. I know one of the family members, who I reached out to and she ultimately put me in touch with a manager at the dealership (Covert Ford in Austin).
He, too, acted as if he did not know what happened. This is "bologna" as we all know. It's quite apparent what they (or the salesman, Josh) did.
They have ordered the correct vehicle for me now, and that order also has my name on it. My guess is they ordered the correct vehicle for me using allocation provided by Ford, because when I login to my Ford account, the original vehicle is still associated with my reservation whereas the correct vehicle is not.
With research, I am able to get a few updates on the build of my correct Bronco. A regional manager put it at priority 2, which Covert decreased to a 9, then a 19, and after I spoke to the dealership manager, it popped back up to a 2. I do not receive updates on the build because, as I was saying above, I only get them on my reservation.
Now, my husband and I are considering buying both Broncos ordered in my name. I spoke to the manager at Covert to let him know this is the case. Low and behold, they have pre-sold that first Bronco to someone else.
Thoughts? Can they do that if it is under my reservation? Do you feel like I am being scammed? Has anyone else experienced this? I'd love feedback, helpful hints, anything to put the fun back into what was supposed to be the great adventure of turning 50 (now 51 after waiting so long😄 ) and becoming an empty nester.

Its wierd, but I don't see how you can expect to have both Broncos, that doesnt seem right.

It seems a stretch to expect to get both if second one was to "fix" an earlier mistake allocating your reservation to someone else. It would seem you should get priority with the first one built based on the earlier reservation and the replacement and delay for that replacement goes to the person who incorrectly appears to be benefiting from your reservation.

So, you got a build date of 2/17 for the early reserved vehicle, do you know if the second is scheduled for build yet? I know you can't look that one up online, but shouldn't the dealer tell you if asked?

An honest mistake isn't a scam. Now if your reservation was stolen intentionally to benefit another, especially if it let them get one earlier with a high ADM, well yes that is unethical for sure though they likely try and justify it saying they will get you yours eventually.

In practice the early reservation seems to be less valuable, my July 2020 reservation hasn't gotten a build date yet..... my second order less than two months ago got picked up already for a build so go figure.

I'm obviously missing something here.

If you were never assigned a VIN#, how was it your vehicle? Your order based on a reservation should have a VIN assigned to it before it was built and there should have been several emails from VIN# to build date to shipping. What emails did you get from Ford? How did they sell a vehicle to someone else that hasn't been built yet?

Just be happy you are getting one. Lots of folks here have been waiting forever and might never get theirs.

Not saying you gonna try to profit on the second one but I wouldn’t be making this public like you are doing. Get one and be done!

Did Covert submit a second order for you because they repurposed the first one for somebody else?

If so, that's really unfortunate, and pretty stupid of the dealer. I actually had orders with Covert and Maxwell Ford in Austin, and pulled the Covert order because their Bronco specialist (ha, also Josh) gave me wildly incorrect information throughout the process. For example, he told me 2021 reservations that had to be rolled over to 2022 couldn't be submitted as orders until 2022. That week I headed down to Maxwell and they placed my order immediately!

The dude just doesn't do his due diligence.

Seems like they made an error and are trying to make it right by placing the replacement order. Unless you had a binding contract with them for the initial order (signed sales order or DORA), you're out of LUCK. Layering up won't change what's been done.

They took OPs reservation and tied someone else’s order to it, likely to benefit that person. OP was getting emails for this other persons bronco, which is how they noticed that the reservation was being used by someone else.

for what it’s worth, the email system sucks. I haven’t gotten any email for my VIN and build date but my dealer told me.

I have an order at Covert too…

If your second order has a PC'2, then it is being built the next week. Only the regional rep has access/authority to change a PC < 10. With their action, you moved to the front of the line. I wouldn't be trying to claim both. Be happy that your situation has been corrected and they just didn't tell you to go to the end of the line.

I honestly can not make heads or tails about the first part of the story, but the second part seems to me they want two broncos for some reason.

The one attached to the reservation has 2021 price protection. Any other one has no price protection. If you are looking for Ford to go to bat for you when you want 2 broncos, I doubt you'll get much from them. They will fight for people that want their bronco to own and cherish, and be a brand ambassador for them. Anyone doing anything else doesn't incentivize Ford to get involved.

Only want one. I just do not like the idea that the dealership will profit from messing up my order.

why should I be happy about this? I did not cancel my order, the dealership did. They placed a different order using my reservation.

I understand the premise of your original order getting hijacked. You should be happy in receiving the second order with PC'2. A PC'1 is essentially the Bronco falls off the line, a new one is built the next day. A PC'2 is a priority build that goes to the front of the line for the next week. The alternative is they could have just put a shrugged their shoulders and put a second order in at the end of the line. Ideally, the best scenario is if your original order wasn't hijacked. But that issue aside isn't going to be resolved. Now faced with going to the front of the line or waiting at the back, I would think it is preferable to go the front and most people would be happy.

I certainly do not want to lawyer up. The Covert family is a super upstandint family, and this is not at all in keeping with their tradition.

Josh told me that there was no need to sign a contract despite three conversations asking about it.

Joseph and Kenny are trying to make it right, but seeing the car matching my stolen and edited reservation is frustrating. I was told that seven (?) customers at the dealership had orders “maliciously” (their word, not mine) altered, and that the Broncos ordered under these original reservations were canceled.

I am not 100% sure that is THE Bronco that hijacked my July 2020 reservation, but it matches the exact specifications of the vehicle.

I am told that this will be made right. Then something happens. Promised it will be made right. Then something else happens. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Except, I do not feel ashamed. I feel confused, disrespected and seriously bamboozled.

Sad that social media is the only way to find any clarity. It’s not okay that you had a bad experience, too. In the long run, this won’t matter so much…right?
