but then the front will look like the back...not the look I want...but more then likely what I will do...
It looks like that to give you room for full compression on rough roads and trails, otherwise you maybe shedding some fenders.

If your brave enough, you can cut a little off the coil spring at a time, but you'd have to reinstall it to see the change, then repeat. Other option is have a steel box built for storage that will weight the back down.

This could well make the ride rougher. It will increase spring rate.
