If your brave enough, you can cut a little off the coil spring at a time, but you'd have to reinstall it to see the change, then repeat. Other option is have a steel box built for storage that will weight the back down.
The ideal way around this then is custom shorter springs. There are still shops that do it.This could well make the ride rougher. It will increase spring rate.
