Can you tap into "courtesy lighting" without Forscan?

Looking at some Prinsu handles with integrated lighting for my roof rack. Curious if I could tap into courtesy lighting so that when I opened the doors they would come off, and turn off when the courtesy lights timed out. I've seen a few examples, but it required the DIY'er to do some reprogramming in Forscan.

The Illumin8 grab handle/courtesy lights tie into the courtesy light circuit at the rear dome light on the c pillar. No forscan required. Should be able to copy that approach.
