Stopped at a store this morning on the way to work and there was a guy in a mustang convertible getting gas. He had two mountain bikes strapped on the back. After reading pages and pages on this forum about cargo space, leg room, how many kids and dogs you can fit in a two door Bronco...I had to ask the guy WTH (in the nicest possible way for a Texan) was he thinking when he chose this vehicle. He laughed and said...wait for it..."IT'S WHAT I WANTED"!! I know, jaw drop. He said he's an avid cyclist and a die hard Mustang fan. Told me he would've made it work no matter what, even if he had to strap all his gear to the top. (Neat trick on a convertible.) I have an EB and know what the cargo space is like. It has fold and tumble backseat if i want to get groceries or soneed to pick up a bag of dog food. I make it work. I also have a two door car. Cargo space...none. Backseat leg room...none. I make it work cause it's what I truly wanted. I know everybody is looking for that all in one, take the kids to baseball, get groceries, overlander, haul enough supplies to build a small city, SUV. If the Bronco (2 or 4-door) is what you truly want, then you'll make it work. Pile those 2 X 4s high on that roof rack. Hell or high water, 2' of cargo space, whatever, you'll adapt and over come. Get the one YOU want, damn the man and enjoy the ride. I know I will. ;)
Iā€™ve always found room! So Iā€™m sure the Bronco will have room!

Iā€™ve only had muscle cars over the years ( a couple challengers, a mustang and a 72 nova) so even the 2-door will be a big step up in space and utility for me. Iā€™m stoked about it. I honestly wouldnā€™t be buying one if the four door was how they all came. Two-door has ā€œthe lookā€.

I was starting down the 2-door route, then after thinking about potential future use, having the ability to carry a little more stuff inside, plus grandchildren on occasion, has made me rethink and go with a 4-door. After looking at the numbers I donā€™t think you will have any problems going off road with the slightly longer wheelbase, and it will be more stable at speed on the highway.

We decided why wait for an empty nest.

We sold our Miata when our son was ~3.. Flash forward 9-10 years, and I realized "we have a 4-door SCrew F-150 -- why can't the second car have only 2 seats??"

By the end of 2005 we had a <3000 mi. 2004 C5 Corvette in the driveway. :)

Also, because we fortunately had a good kid, as he got older he got to occasionally experience driving our C5 and C6 Corvettes -- good memories for all of us.

My philosophy: U-Haul

Need to haul 140 8 foot long 2x4's? Rent a $19.99 U-Haul cargo van for the day.

Need to haul an entire bedroom suite from Ikea to your god-daughter's college dorm? Rent a $19.99 U-Haul cargo van for the day.

Life is to short for me to limit myself to second choice now that the kid's are gone, I am retired, and I have financial stability, so 2-door 2.7 manual with 'extras'. Wife told me your truck, get what you want! (should be noted wife can drive a stick no problem)
Agreed. Life is too short.
Too bad you won't get your 2.7 manual though....

The key difference between the OP and the mustang convertible owner is choice.

If he had the choice of the exact car with 2 more doors, what would he have done then? That would of been a great question to ask.

Making it work is different for us because we have the 4 door option. While the 2 door Bronco is an awesome vehicle, the 4 door is just more practical for many of us.

Ha, my mustang doesn't have a roof rack, I just drop the rear seats, pop the trunk and slide them right on top of my center console.

I agree with what you were saying though, make it work. I always have. You'd be amazed of what I've been able to fit through the back seats into my mustang. As long as it clears the trunk, or can clear the open door, I'm hauling it ?

I get I'm way different than a lot of people around here. I want a Bronco because I've owned 3 and I'm dying to get another. I still haven't decided on 2 door (cheaper) or 4 door (easier to fill up... see my Mustang story above). I just don't know. I do know that I will have a Bronco though.

My bonco will be a DD along with the 2014 mustang gt. Keeping the f150 for hauling, problem solved. I'm fortunate to be in this position empty nester and very close to retirement. Getting 2 door.

My last two DD have been 2-door. Both little sporties. I loaded 300 lbs of horse feed in my two door Altima. (Couple of the sacks had to wear seatbelts.) I loved that car and only got a new sporty cause I wanted something smaller.??ā€ā™€ Husband hates the new car so now Iā€™m going bigger. Going from a 2 door car to 2 door bronco is going to be like moving up to a suburban. Iā€™ll be looking for ways to fill it up!!

Been DD'n a 2dr JK for 9 years now. Backseat has been out just as long and for about 5 years now the spare tire has been strapped to the floor where the back seat used to go. I still make it work. It's a little big of a pain working around the soft top in the winter when I can't unzip and flip the back window on the roof for easier access but it's a small price to pay to have the vehicle I truly want vs the one I'd have to settle for.

So I'll be going with the 2 door again with the Bronco.

I've got a 2016 mustang as well - I recently built a barn-door for a room in my house, which ended up being 8' high by 6' wide.. I bought all the lumber for it at Home Depot, including a 12' header board (12'x6"x1"), all of the lumber came home in the Mustang (including the 9 8'long 1x8" boards).. where there's a will, there's a way.
