Updated my Apple 13 Pro to IOS 16.0.3 and again to 16.1 amd now carplay wont work wirelessly and wont connect automatically via USB wire.

Is anyone having similar problems?

Worked like a champ for a week until I updated. 🤣

Consider reporting to Apple via chat on your apple support icon. The more people that report it, the faster they will repair it perhaps. Ford Support was aware of problem but punted to Apple. Apple chat took me through a bunch of stuff I had already tried. I removed norton vpn from my phone, deleted phone from vehile, forget device on phone, etc, etc. I tried the network reset detailed above as it was something new. No effect. It is a bug. I configured it in 3 minutes before and it worked great with VPN until 16.0.3. Not sure what it was previously. 16.1 was supposed to repair some carplay/vpn issues but it did not help my issue.

Is your wifi turned on? It has to be on for carplay. Also SIRI must be enabled. You probably have tried these things but if not, hope that helps!

have you tried resetting the system? I think I hold power and right seek button until the screen goes black and airplay improves

I'm using Android Auto. Since last update, my phone frequently disconnects.
Also, it will play two sources simultaneously.
My phone (Galaxy S22) gets ridiculously hot.
This doesn't happen in my wife's Acadia Denali. Everything works flawlessly and my phone stays cool.
My Bronco has High package so no wireless charging causing the heat issue.
Do you IPHONE users have a problem with your phones overheating?
Edit: my phone has shut down several times because it gets too hot

These types of issues can usually be fixed by restarting phone and/or hard rebooting headunit.

Yeah, I saw that. I will save that for the last gasp as I have Sirius, ATT, Ford pass, and Alexa and I worry that will all have to be set up again.

It doesn’t, I actually do this on long trips while driving! Just unplug and wait for it to connect wirelessly before plugging in usb

Yes. All of those steps were in the link above. Siri works with Sync too. It is just carplay that is hosed up

I’m not sure exactly what it resets but it doesn’t reset your settings. When I’m having CarPlay issues it always solves them.
