This guy has a good idea. And I’ve definitely got the same need. But I can’t help but wonder if the tools would work better hanging vertically. Or at least a smaller shovel.

Yeah, I’d go with a collapsible / foldable shovel, and a smaller jack for sure. Not sure I like the ends of all those things sticking out where they could snag on something, or where people can snag on them. I’d rather put spare jerry cans back there for water and fuel.

he should mount it upside down to alleviate his excess strap length and blocking third brake light, also maybe get three tools above the camera so it still functions (faces downward)

I ordered one of these. I am thinking about also getting the tailgate reinforcement add on here: Tailgate Reinforcement | Ford Bronco 4WD (2021) | Rough Country

They say "This easy, bolt-on reinforcement plate ties the hinge and spare tire mounting points together for increased strength and rigidity. The result is less strain on your tire carrier and hinges, prolonging the lifespan of your rear swing-out gate".

interesting, but I'm not really interested in adding extra weight behind the spare....

I'm no expert, but three big problems seem evident:
A) Doesn't that clutter view from the rear cam?
B) Are those tools definitely solidly secure, or are they likely to come off and hit cars behind?
C) What about tool theft in parking lots?

Not a fan of the extra weight on the tailgate.

I have a shovel head that I can attach to my hi lift handle. Saves some space.
