Help me find where I said 6g knows it all, I simply stated my experience…sounds like someone is having a bad day…🤣🤣. The few times my dealership has responded to my inquiries about info posted here they’ve confirmed it…but after the fact.

Ford offset the shortage by rescheduling.......
Yeah, I wouldn't really call cutting production by 50% a very sophisticated strategy. "Offset" generally implies a replacement or alternate is used.

'We didn't build stuff because we didn't have parts' Is what it boiled down to.

CEO SPEAK:
CEO Farley says Ford was able to offset almost all chip shortage impact

Public Reads:
offset most of the chip shortage impact in Q1 (IT IS NOW PAST Q1!!!)
I’m not sure we’ll get all of what we need.
So it’s going to be a big transition to get more capacity for us in these the chips that we mostly use
I think it’s going to take time. So let’s see how the numbers work out.

:unsure: :unsure: :unsure: :confused::confused::confused:🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Yeah, that was a BS-piece without a doubt. That was double-speak, double-spoken.

A few years ago I went thru the Wendy’s drive-thru and when I ordered a Dave’s single with cheese, I was told they were out of hamburger. Well, that’s about the last thing I thought I’d hear at a burger joint. I thought, well that’s a hell of a thing......a burger joint with no burgers. I suppose I could have ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, but i had a hankering for a burger and didn’t want chicken.......so I moseyed on down the road. Now, Mr. Farley can talk all he wants about how well they’ve handled the chip issue, but at this point who really gives a shit whether you can’t get a bronco due to a chip or a MIC top. Sure, you can order a piece of canvas, unless you’re like me and ordered a 2dr, but sometimes, whether it’s Wendy’s and a burger or Ford and a Bronco, a guy (or gal) wants what he wants. And at some point some of us will mosey on down the road to a manufacturer that knows how to acquire plastic and silicone. How comforting though that he took the time to reassure Wall Street without even mentioning the Ford customer.

I wished the interviewer had asked specifically what "offset" was referring to.

I assume it meant:
  • selling 2020 vehicles that were stockpiled and unsold in 2020 during covid
  • partially building trucks and storing for final assembly when parts become available
  • workforce reduction, factory shutdown, vacation burnoff, and other cost-saving measures
  • stockpiling parts to improve production capacity when chips are available

Almost? All it takes is one chip to stop a build.
