I would change to the soft-top if Ford would provide the water/power connection for a future hard-top. Why can't Ford give this to everyone who wants to speed up delivery?

I agree, hard top=problem. Then get rid of hard top and offer it as an add on later.

1. Design locked for 2021.
2. Warranty and legal issue for people inadvertently activating switches

1) I don’t buy that they can’t make that change. They want to save the $29 in parts.
2) How? Dual tops were originally an option.

Wrong on #2. NA and NB Miatas were wired for hardtops and had rear defrost buttons even if you didn't get the hardtop option. Activating a switch that leads to nothing does nothing.

Help me understand. The design is locked, but the design already includes rear washer/defrost (if they want to include it) so the design is unchanged. The Bronco can sit there without a top, with a hard top, or a soft top... why would the top impact Ford’s ability to include the needed hardware for rear washer/defrost? This is not a troll post... I’m really looking for the answer.

Not sure I'm following your logic - they have soft-top options for both 2* and 4 door, so no design issues. And for the "warranty and legal" on flipping switches that makes no sense. I have a hard top coming, will have those switches, and when I take the top off and use a soft top (or none) there is no issue, so why would there be one then?

The big issue is production planning, and eating the cost of the wiring harnesses. Given the lost revenue from units not being able to be completed/delivered, I would think cost is not the issue vs the workaround to manage the build process

*EDIT - when I say soft top option for 2 door, I mean the Bestop version in the accessories catalog...

There are videos out there highlighting how those hoses plug into a port when the hard top is taken off so they don’t bounce around. Seems like with the millions of dollars they’re investing they’d be able to pay someone to plug those suckers in when it rolls off the line and slap a soft top on it for us.
