Looking to change my Good Year 315/70/17's..most of the tires I'm looking at are E rated, I read they are heavier, anything to worry about. I read there stiffer, any way around that...less air ?

Thanks

I dont think you will notice a difference

I ran E rated tires on both my first gen xterras, and its a lot lighter than the broncos.

C vs E
C has softer ride
E has stiffer ride

But they have other attributes as well, but for what you asking....

There are C rated 35s out there...

Open county at3 and trail grapplers I believe offer C rated metric 35s.

I just change the tires on my F-150 Raptor. I replaced the factory 315-70-17 KO2's which were a "C" and went with a Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 12.5-35-17 "D". I do notice a difference in ride, performance, and MPG. The MT's are about 10 lbs per tire heavier which has cost me approx 1 mpg. Acceleration is noticeably slower as well. The ride is definitely stiffer. All of that and I do not regret making the change at all. An "E" rated tire is going to be a big difference over the factory "C".

Ran D rated on my last Jeep. Went with C rated ko2s on my bronco. I thought the D rated tires ran like crap. Noticeably rougher even aired down to 32 psi. Open Country AT3 are a good choice in 35s imho. There are benefits in durability I'm sure as D have my ply but wasn't something that I benefitted from

I’ve run general grabber C-rated 35’s on my wrangler for the past 10-12 years and it was a noticeable improvement in ride quality over the E-rated tires prior to that. I wheel in the nevada desert and have never had an issue with durability.

run same size tires cooper discoverer. 10 ply .Run them at 34 psi. Did chalk test as well. No difference in ride. Running any higher ride is extremely harsh but they are not supposed to be set as high as stock tires. Weight is negligible. Gearing makes a difference.

Drop Pressure down from Fords 39
Down to 35 all good!
Still stiffer, but acceptable

I replaced my factory KO2s a year ago with Toyo OC AT3 in “E” rating and didn’t notice much difference. Still rides great. I run 35 psi front and 32 out back

We went to E rated on our Bronco. Read about a chalk test and from that ended up around 30 psi for the tires. At the factory recommended 39 psi the ride was harsh. At 30 it is pretty good.

As some of you may have already read I have been looking for other tire, the Good Year 315/70/17's are loader than I'm use to. I've driving driving a Ford diesel for years...But my 2020 trans blew and i'm on a three month wait list for repair...I tried everything,,,,2-3 months...Ford will only pay so much and it's a real pain,,,,I have the extended warranty...so I wait...Needed a vehicle and always had them in the past and figured may be cheaper to buy one, I'm sure always be able to sell it....so got lucky with a used Wildtrak..love the truck but tires are loud and maybe some wind noise too. So I'm still looking at other brands...One thing I will say, heavy rain here all day...NJ took the truck out and tried some stop and goes and went through a few large puddles, Bronco never swayed and hard braking worked very well...impressed...so going to do some more home work.

Thank You for all the replies very helpful.

I have Toyo 37s on my 4-door. 32psi Front, 30psi rear - Cold. Not a harsh ride at all. Other riders have commented on how smooth the truck is.

Even at this low tire pressure the E-Rated tire still has more than enough tire pressure to handle the Bronco's weight. There is minimal tire bulge and a nice Flat tire patch.
