This is a great little trail we found not far from Breckenridge, Colorado. It is an offshoot from Peru Creek trail/road. Peru Creek is an easy to access road. You could run into a Prius on the main road. We also found areas where you can do dispersed camping.

Chihuahua Gulch is more challenging, probably a medium rated trail. It is best done in a 4x4 with decent clearance. A base Bronco will handle it just fine. The big 35s of the Sasquatch aired down will give you a better ride.

It starts out as a pretty steep and rocky road through the trees. You will go by some big rock fields and work your way through the trees. Eventually you will be rewarded with big open vistas of alpine meadows, deep blue sky, snow capped mountains, wildflowers, and creeks.

The trail had a lot of hikers on it the day we were there. At the end of the vehicle road you can find room to park and continue on foot. We did not go far on the hiking trail because we had not prepared for that. We would want to have plenty of water and some food to bring along. Some hikers heading up told us that it was a long hike but there was a beautiful mountain lake to be found at the top.

This can be a full day adventure if you either add in the hike or hit the rest of the trails/roads nearby. We spent some time exploring around the abandoned beaver damns off of Peru Creek road. The water was an amazing white/blue color. We also did another trail that didn't have any other vehicles on it, Warden Gulch.

Here is the video of Chihuahua Gulch.

Another view of Peru Creek from the top of the other side, Argentine Pass. You can actually see said beaver ponds, pic is from 2005.
