I would detour the Jetour. BTW, never buy a vehicle that has a name in which spellcheck automatically changes the spelling.
Not really, since Chinese autos have tariffs of 27.5% on them. So unless they want to lose money or flood the market, which would cause the USG to take further measures to protect the US based manufactures. But for sure, there will be tons or extremely well built Chinese EVs coming to the US - with varying levels of design that appeals to the US market. Because they can make stuff, really really well.
Lets not pretend like every mid-sized American pickup looks like a Hilux...They can’t help themselves, and lack any of their own creativity.
there is absolutely more to come on tax / trade negotiation coming - I still would not count China out on bringing (not only luxury) EVs to to US.Not really, since Chinese autos have tariffs of 27.5% on them. That is part of the reason why Ford doesn't sell cheaper products in the USA-they where planning on selling the Focus Active here, built in China, but due to geopolitical considerations, that didn't happen.
You might see some luxury cars imported (Buick does this and Lincoln might do it for a short period of time till more EVs come in a few years), but the volume would be small and margins would be able to take care of the import taxes.
Given what is happening with reshoring industry in the USA and trade with China, I don't see the auto market here becoming more friendly with Chinese autosthere is absolutely more to come on tax / trade negotiation coming - I still would not count China out on bringing (not only luxury) EVs to to US.
I assume you mean Mabett, who has taken that info and produced products that US vendors couldn't be bothered to make? American companies happily send their stuff over there for manufacturing too, and pass on those cost savings to us in the form of increased prices. There is one vendor on our forum that has scanned every inch of the Bronco and everytime we buy from them we are enabling and supporting this
My take, buy american!
Not friendly, like Ford investing 3.5 bn in CATL? US wants to make and sell cars within China as well. So there will need to be some re-balancing of the tarifs both ways - specifically when Chinese auto makers are ready to expand markets beyond the success they have been enjoying in Europe. https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/chinese-electric-car-exports-europe-soarGiven what is happening with reshoring industry in the USA and trade with China, I don't see the auto market here becoming more friendly with Chinese autos
The CATL battery plant is being paid by the USG-Ford is using the tech they have, but building it all in house in the USA so they get the money. The patents on the battery tech (which are from US Universities) are set to expire soon also that CATL has. China has a 15% tariff on imported cars. Not friendly, like Ford investing 3.5 bn in CATL?
