I developed a clunk after putting on Eibach lift springs. The springs were installed onto the struts at a shop, and I installed the struts on the Bronco. Once I got it put back together and took for a test drive I had clunks when going over bumps. Seemed like the sound was coming from the rear, then at different times seemed like it was coming from the front. I rechecked every nut, bolt, screw, etc that I had taken off, and all were tight.
I finally found the issue after having my wife and two teenage sons all get on the same bumper corner and bounce the Bronco up and down. The problem was the strut top hat was not all the way tightened down onto the strut. All 4 struts had loose top hats. Each tighted down another 2-3 full turns. Once this was done, no more clunks.
