Cockpit Cover

I posted this on Twitter this afternoon, but thought some people here should see it.

Cockpit cover came in yesterday. This afternoon I took the roof/doors off, put the tube doors back on and decided to figure out the cockpit cover before I HAD to on a work day. One note: works with light bar but it’s tight.

Got done just in time before rain started. I’m going to leave it outside as a test.

It’s also much more of a cactus gray looking color than the white it appears to be on the Ford Accessories site.

Rain was very light and only lasted around 45 minutes, but I had wet seats and console afterwards. I’ll be returning this cover… the whole point was to keep out rain.

Well that's fubar! What is the point of one of those if it's not waterproof? Looks cool, but completely pointless. Let us know what they say about it?

It mentions dust and dew on the website, so maybe they just need to make it clear that it’s not meant for rain?

I’ll be calling my dealer Monday. I don’t anticipate having any problem with them, and the Ford Accessories site does list a return policy.

I have one off Amazon but it’s unwieldy to fold up, which is why I wanted this one (smaller cover = less material to fold up).

Guess I’ll be going back to that. At least it keeps out water.

Yeah, that one is crap! Go with Broncover.

Just looked at the Broncover site. If it holds up that would be something I’m interested in, though I think the price is a bit high.

That said, I have to wonder if it would fit properly with the Rigid light bar.

I just purchased one from Raingear. Right now they only have them for soft top/MIC tops on, but they are developing one for those that completely remove their tops.

Yeah I don't quite understand this cover. The fact that it covers the mirrors is clear it's only made for those unexpected sand and dust storms that can damage your glass, but will it even do that?

A cover that is waterproof, covers the hood, and maybe even 1/4" thick to help absorb hail would be ideal...

anyone use a cover to protect the soft top from sun exposure? I have been debating if the sun will wear on the soft top material if the vehicle is kept outside. (sadly no garage at the moment)

I know this might sound dumb, but I would like one I could carry that I could drive with. Like a thin cover to throw on if out and it starts to rain.

Not dumb, there are several products like that for Jeeps, Mostly from "Pavement Ends" (Bestop's value brand)...

They call them "Emergency Tops", and you can't run highway speeds with them, But they keep you from getting totally soaked..

I'd get one if someone started making them!

Ya that cover is in no way waterproof. Thought that was well known by now. Originally the accessory site did not include the bit about being for dust and dew, but they make it pretty clear now.
