I went out for a full day of off-roading in the Columbia River Gorge area. I had several trails I wanted to get mapped and uploaded for onX. Most of the trails were easy, but there were a few that were moderate. Overall it was a fun filled day of 4 wheeling the area.
The area map: (the teal colored ones are the trails I mapped for onX today)
This will be my final off-road trip in Washington State before I move and I am seriously going to miss these types of trails.
I arrived in the area about 7AM and wheeled until about 3:30PM so it was a full 8 1/2 hours of pure fun!
The trails in this area are your standard Washington State deep forest trails. They were mainly loose gravel trails, loose rocky trails, hard packed rocky trails, and dirt trails. There was some overgrowth but nothing like I am use to in the Gifford Forest area. I did get to use my chainsaw twice on a few massive limbs that were sticking into the pathway.
The moderate trails were a blast. One trail in particular had very deep ruts and very deep washouts. Some of which, put you in off-camber situations at a few spots along it. This trail was also very narrow making the deep ruts and deep washouts even more difficult as you could not pick a line and were stuck using the area the forest trail gave you.
A stock 4x4 would not have been able to make it down this particular trail. I have a 2 1/2" lift and 35x11.5R17's and I dragged the bumper and the undercarriage a few times.
I saw some awesome scenery and snapped numerous photos during the day. Here are a few:
