I’ve read other posts about this but witnessed it firsthand today. Driving on the interstate in my 3 week old Badlands when a small pebble smaller than the size of a pea hit the windshield fright in the line of sight for the drivers side. Instant crack that went half way down the windshield. It will definitely spread in the next few days with the Florida heat.

I can now attest to what others have said: Ford went cheap on the glass for these.

Totally feel your pain, I'm going on my 4th... I do not believe Ford went with cheap glass, it is the design of the windshield - very common on Jeep Wranglers/Gladiators...

I could be wrong though, I'm not happy either way

I’ve owned quite a few Jeeps over the years, although not the JL or Gladys and have not had this level of disappointment in the windshields

Actually ford auto glass is as good as it gets they even make glass for other autos as well, the problem is the angle its pretty extreme jeep owners go through this as well.
Try not following so closely if you can, there is so much junk on the roads now its a battleground.

Anyone know anyone that has put that protective windshield wrap on? Curious if that would be helpful as long as it doesn't obscure your vision.

Geesh. I'm at 6k miles without that happening in the Bronco. Thank goodness.

I always stay way back from other cars on the freeway but I know that helps very little overall. It's a matter of luck.

I looked at Stek Dynoflex a bit for mine. cost was around $450-500. It was supposed to help with most 'minor' chips, could barely see it, but was only expected to last 1-2yrs before your wipers scratched it up. You could 1.) use a ceramic to minimize friction & wear or 2.) not use your wipers.

I ended up saying no thanks.. hopefully we'll get Gorilla glass at some point. I don't feel like replacing a film every 1-2 years either at this point.

I don't ended up putting a hood deflector on my TJ after replacing two windshields in a year. Ugly as sin, but it alters the airstream enough to effect smaller rocks and pebbles. Never had so much as a crack after that.
