Something does not add up in my head.
Bronco is built on next-gen Ranger platform - Bronco is being built side-by-side the current gen Ranger - does not compute.
Can someone explain this to me.

2 unique body shops. Common paint, trim and chassis lines. Adds complexity but has been done many times before.

My understanding is that they are both using the same platform, the T6. The Bronco is running on an updated variation of the T6, and that the Ranger will also be running this updated version in their 2022 models. The differences between the two are supposedly minor, though I do not know the actual differences, and that is why they are being build side by side.

Basically they are both body on frame builds, however they really do not share much except for the 2.3 engine..looking at the frames of both..they are different, suspension different, electronics for the most part ..different. There are some driveline common components

if It was the Maverick and the Ranger it couldnt be done or at Least done economically.

unibody vs body on frame

all the two frames need to go on the same line or buck is 4 common location points. in other words 4 frame holes to rest on 4 location pins. you already have two different frames if you consider 2dr/4dr. E and F series plants do it all the time. all the lines do is to support and transport the build.

there will be a multitude of reaction arms to load the variety of different components. it's part of what is being done during the ramp up.

Current Ranger frame wont fit a V-6. Bronco does. Next Ranger will be able to use V-6.

At least this is the way it was explained over a year ago.

The real question is, will Ford finally decide to actually compete with the Tacoma and put the Bronco's 7MT in the Ranger? Because people drop a lot of cash on stick shift Tacos.

(I'm betting that's a big fat no)

That would be nice to see, even if they lose the crawler gear. I would have bought a Ranger a year or two ago if it had a manual.

You may need to wait for the bronco pickup to get a manual in a pickup.

Confused the Bronco doesn’t share the Ranger transmission.

I started this journey not happy with our current SUV capability and reserved the iconic Bronco.
The Bronco was going to be built on the Ranger platform. So naturally we bought a Ranger. Moded the $hit out of it and love it!

But I’m confused that (from original rumors) it doesn’t share the same transmission. But shares gear ratio… Although I understand the Explorer maybe be well enough.

Planned on getting the manual transmission from the beginning.
Just slighted by the discrepancies.

With this all said: I would not want a manual transmission with the Ranger. Maybe I would say the same with the Bronco but I’m going full Iconic with the MT.
Disclosure: Ranger is bigger than the 2 door Bronco we plan on getting. And easier to maneuver with the AT.
