I heard that the cost of vehicle registration in AZ is dependant on car price. Anyone register a Badlands and how much did they hit you for? Will I need to get a 2nd loan? LOL

My 2020 F-150 Raptor was $1100 the first year. I was shocked to find out that Massachusetts was actually cheaper out to year 10.

This link will calculate the VLT for you.

My 4dr BL Squatch was $768 last year from the dealer when I bought it. Dropped to around $625 for this year (Feb renewal).

Yes, registration is based on value of the vehicle, so it starts high and gradually drops.

Also, be leery of the 2 year tag thing. They give you a small price break on 2 year tags, but if you get rid of the vehicle for whatever reason, they completely screw you on refunding the remaining balance.

Just titled my recently passed sister's car 2 weeks ago to sell. Paid $130 for tags and will get about $50 of that back once DMV un-screws up the title. They fat-fingered a digit on the odo reading, so yet another trip back there. I AM gonna demand they take me to dinner before they screw me next time!

That is bad information about the 2 year tag, I never had a problem getting a refund from AZ.

You get a refund, but only for the monthly pro-rated Vehicle License Tax (VLT) portion. All the other fees don't get refunded.

If you pay registration fee and then sell the following day, you get 11/12 (or 23/24 for a 2 year) of the VLT back but they keep all the other fees associated with the registration.

I re-titled a trailer of my dad's I had for 6 years after his passing when they had the public safety fee in place. Paid like $80 for the registration and then got less than $30 back a week later when I sold it.

Former AZ resident now in Colorado. CO one-ups AZ by making it a factor of price and vehicle weight. Registering my Silverado the first year was close to $1k.

Welcome to AZ!
Thank you Sir. I actually got here mid April and just moving into my house now. My house is a wreck. I also just changed my order back to a Badlands (had it at a Raptor for a while, but ford is out of theier minds on pricing). Probably another 2yr wait. LOL

They still owe me 28 bucks or so from when I sold my Expedition last September.

They changed it recently, you have to either go get your refund in person, or give them a bunch of biometric data.

If you make a login on their website, it shows your credit balance and you can apply it to a future renewal.
