It looks like they got around the whole electronics issues by ripping them out and starting from scratch with their own. The 10r80'a TCM wants lots of data for its adaptive learning cycle, so it would be a nightmare to integrate.

6R80 is shorter and narrower. Smart choice from my limited knowledge on the two transmissions. This is awesome either way. 10 speed exists for fuel mileage not actual usage.
