Cruise Control Question

Have searched for this and perhaps the answers are so clear it has never been discussed. Are there two different cruise controls? Regular and adaptive? In reading I thought I came across some information suggesting that.
If so, what package(s) is/are they tied to?

"Regular" cruise control comes standard. The adaptive cruise is in the lux package.
