Then if left as-is, it puts base 2dr to base 4 dr @ 180 lbs?
Anyway, if correct, the fact that some 4 banger 2 doors could be 5K,
as much as an FSB, is kind of crazy.
Yeah, It's crazy how heavy it seems to be but I think that's correct. The difference in curb weight between a base 2dr and 4dr wrangler Sport is 3970 vs 4,167 = 197lbs so not far off that.

Eh, I wouldn't freak out too much. It looks about 200-300 lbs more than a Wrangler in Base trim. Other trims are probably similar. No big deal. Top end weights appear to be with every option box ticked. I'm sure a 4D Wrangler Rubicon with every option (auto, hard top, leather, etc) sitting on 35s is pushing 5,000 lbs as well.

Also, Base 2 door top weights don't make sense. How can a Badlands with Sasquatch only be 20 lbs heavier than a Badlands with manual on 33s? Just the tires add like 100 lbs.

My xterra weighs over 4900lbs now w/ its mods and even here in Denver (with the ~15% loss of power due to altitude) it has more than enough power. The only issue I ever have with it is on i-70 hills (which are higher altitude than denver). The bronco should do well up here due to turbos since they lose a lot less power due to altitude, and have more power to begin with on both engine sizes.
Yeah, it is really nice having the ecoboost in the mountains. My current truck weighs at least 4800 unloaded, and has the first gen 2.7 with a 6 speed, and I can pretty effortlessly pass during any uphill stretch on I-70.

The one thing everyone is forgetting with the Ranger (and any truck) comparisons is the GVWR - the Ranger has a total weight max of 6,500lbs. Meaning the 2.3l was tested and found to be able to “handle” that weight (among other factors of course). The 2.7l f150 has a GVWR (crew cab short box) of 6,600 lbs.

I’m guessing the Bronco will come in well under that figure because it doesn’t have a bed. No one drives an empty vehicle around (except at a track) .... say 150lbs per pax (5) 150 lbs of cargo Looking at 900lbs of payload and a max GVWR of about what 6,100lbs - 5/600Lbs under the ranger and f-150.?‍♂

This is quite a bit heavier than I was hoping for. These are wide, tall, and very heavy.

I don't see the issue, Bronco isn't really meant to be driven fast. Maybe the Raptor version, but unless they're using carbon fiber (don't!), I don't expect it to get much lighter.

Once I add lights, winch, stinger, then my gear, that max payload will be close. If I can move her 0-60 for less than 8 sec I'd be more than pleased. Time to retire that Valentine One. ?

Looks like the Bronco is going to be on the porky side.

2-Door 2.7L 4491lbs-5129lbs depending on equipment.

4-Door 2.7L 4661lbs-5320lbs depending on equipment.

As a comparison the Jeep Rubicon:

2-Door 4145lbs
4-Door 4507lbs

Ford Raptor (2017-2020) 5525lbs.

The fully loaded weights probably include the steel bumpers, skid plates, hard top, and 35” tires. If so, that is very close to what my 2012 4 door rubicon weighed (5,280) after adding bumpers, full skid plates, 37’s, and a winch.

What sucks is Ford took lazy approach and put the same Curb Wt. data (ranges) in all the Trims. So you cannot easily determine say how much the Badlands adds over BD with 2-door manual. That would be useful to know.
Hopefully when Ford puts out their 2021 towing guide it will itemize the weight of each option like they had in the past for the F series.

Great info - so I'm not worried about the 2.3L at all now. My Pathfinder is over 100lbs heavier and also has about 30-40Lbs less torque, but I've never really felt it needed more even towing a loaded 12ft utility trailer through the mountains between AZ and CA. I'll take the 2.3L with a MT and do some tuning later if necessary. Not a chance I'm paying more and giving up the MT to get the 2.7L engine.

Agreed. If you look at the fully loaded Bronco it’s got a lot of stuff added to it. Just the steel bumpers alone, iron block 2.7, plus the 35’s is going to drive up the weight. Looking briefly it seems like the 35’s are about 20 pounds heavier than a Jeep 33” tire, so that’s 100 extra pounds right off the bat.

Makes me even more curious about tow capacity though. 5000 pound vehicle should easily be able to it’s own weight at minimum.

My 80 series Land Cruiser has a curb weight of 4760, so a 2 door Badlands should weigh as much or more than it. To me this is good news, it should mean that the Bronco is over built, especially when you consider the higher aluminum content compared to the 80 series. For reference the 80 series has 212 hp / 275 Torque, and can tow 5000 lbs.

I wonder how it compares to my 97 TJ. The TJ has the 4.0 six and 5 speed manual. Fun to drive around town but very slow. It has only 180 HP, I believe. But I am a little disappointed how heavy the Bronco is going to be. On the other hand I did test drive a 2020 F 150 (extra cab, not crew) with the 2.7 and was very surprised the get up and go. So the 2.7 should move the Bronco pretty good. The 2.3 we will have to see I guess. With a manual it might be fine. The automatic does benefit from 10 gears though, keeping the power band available.
